It is because, old dogs cannot learn new tricks. When you are 18 or older, it's harder to learn a new language. Especially if you weren't given education during your childhood years. Im amazed that she knows how to speak English that well. But it is because she is younger than the ones who are here.

  • Sad that there are foreigners who can speak english better than some people that live here and supposedly want to be part of America.

  • 0:22 Get this one. No I'm not going to buy that.

Sapa is the best place ever!!!!!!! :D

  • dang shes good at english!! ehehe

  • Last year, near Sa Pa, I met a girl named Mai, she was 13, she could speak English as well as this girl!

She was also a Black H'mong girl. I asked her how she learned to speak English, and she just shrugged and said, "English is easy"!!!! She also spoke her dialect, Vietnamese, and French!

And who knows what else she could speak! When she found out I was Canadian, she switched from English to French!

And it's not like she even went to school! It's amazing.

  • @travpoet They do say kids can pick up languages easier. How good was she in French? Amazing though.

  • Where do they learn English if they live in the mountains? Hmm...I'm Hmong-American and I didn't know that they were able to speak that well over there. Excellent!! =)

  • It's 1/millions that a young mountain hmong girl speak that well in English. I am proud and humble at the same time.

  • Why english speakers appreciate others only when they speak english?

  • nice girl ^o^

to talk to you too shit. "no i'm not gonna

buy it" wtf!?!?!? what kinda answer is that??

fucken rude as hell. buy it to be nice or whatever shssssssss!!! if i was them i'll refuse to talk to you cause you refuse to buy my shit. sorry speaking of truth.

but i so love her; she speak english

    so will, you go girl.

  • i know what you mean, she is only speaking to them so they will buy her item but the camera guy said now. how rude. I wouldn't speak to them but since they are white she just trying to make money for her family. you heard she said mom not working only me. what a strong young girl. If it was me I would buy whatever she had just to show that being nice always repay back with goods. will I hope and wish her to get more customer as how nice and kind she was.

  • is this an american white guy or hmong guy taping these...?

  • i believed he is white.

  • She doesn't look like Hmong (I don't say she is not) she looks more like Akha.

  • she is pure hmong..don't you know your own kind. she is black hmong from vietnam. if you are black hmong then your great grand ma wear the same clothing or similar. most of the black hmong in laos and the USA came from north vietnam.

  • Don't you understand english??? I'm NOT Hmong I'm Chinese from Vietnam. And I NEVER've said she is not a Hmong, just she does look like Akha or Lisu. It's just my opinion by the way.

  • you talki about me....no me no eng-lish. your nick chong is more like hmong name that's why i thought you are a hmong. Hmong is part of Miao. the girl in the video is belong to Miao/Hmong ethic group. She speaks the western miao(Yunnan and Sichuan area in China) dialect.

  • Wow such great english !!! =)

  • BUY THE DAMN BLANKET SON! DAMN.

  • I hope she´s doing fine and will find

a way to make a living. It´s not easy for

    them, cause Thailand government threatens

them with deportation to Laos, where they

are hunted, tortured and murdered like

    animals.

I really feel for this cute and inteligent girl.

  • wtf wtf....i can't believed this video....wow

  • cool...

  • pretty good n english

  • wow.. pretty good english..

  • that guy didnt buy anything, but hecka questioned the english out of her. psk. you go girl!!! dang! she's good.

  • so true!

  • Adequate command of the English language, even more than some Caucasian here in the United States. The interviewer was being an ass though, she asked his name after giving hers and he never bothered to answered only storm her with question.

  • dam she smart

  • She is so cute! She is too young to work! Poor girl! A little bit cleaner, little bit make up. She would beat Brenda Song! Ha ha Just kidding!

  • Her english is very good giving that fact she didn't go to school to learn english. She learned from tourist...and she can communicate with the tourists that's something that we in america probably couldn't complished.

  • I don't think she learnt that good english with tourists. There is for sure some missionary around that teach them english. I even met Akha people in Thailand who were able to speak proper french due to a ctholic french church in the mountains.

  • Aren't the communists regime from both sides (Laos/Vietnam) are continuing with the extermination of these people deep in to the jungles?

  • ABSOLUTLY NOT

  • Don't really like the comment since I'm Hmong also, but in a way, it's somewhat true. Just being real, some are still okay though. But I've seen some of them do some real dirt.

  • wat kinda cheap mother fucker is this camara kid... take all that time to do shit and didnt even bother to buy something... if i was the gurl... "if u no buy, get the fuck out of my face!"

  • wow this is a smart grl haha not really tho hehe

  • WTF? Her Egnlish probly better than a bunch of VNese in popular cities =\

  • Dowee89, do you know why? She is a pure human being. She knows well about happy life of the American Hmongs. She knows people move to Sam-neua, Laos and then to Thailand in the hope going to America. This interview is checking about that. How many Chinese Hmongs looking for similar hope. Finally, Laos will be blamed for not so hospitable.

  • cheap American boy..Man..asked little Hmong girl a bunch of question then said : I am not going to buy this stuff...hahaha. What I saw in the trip there..North European, Japanese,Korean.. spend money there to buy souvernia . Not like Australian and American.

  • Lost their way? Seems like the young Hmong here are forging their own path (like all of the other minorites that have come here). There's no question of "have and have nots", or, what life was like before the U.S. immigration. The question here is about, what part of the culture can be streamlined/jettisoned to make us contributing members to this society. Other minorites have done it. Why do we get a break?

  • I hope the "role model" you refer to isn't that decrepit kermudgen Vang Pao? Last time I saw the news he's looking at some seroius terrorist issues.

  • Gonna fry like a large mouth bass.

  • Their attitudes is like viets....

  • Your 27 I have a feeling you wouldn't even know what a Việt Cộng was if it sat next to you.

  • Yeah don't stereotype us hmong, you wouldn't even know how to survive if you had to live like them in the jungles hiding from genocide.

  • You are welcome....

The reason Hmong people are not mentioned is due mostly to ignorance, but ignorance is only a lack of knowledge, it can be corrected.

  • wow .....

  • Theincrdibles8 said, "i cant not stop watching this talented hmong girl... i luv my kind...very hot..."

I'm sure your looking for a second wife but this ones going to turn into a materialistic one...On second thought if you get her she'll be your problem. Go get her Buddy!

  • Thanks for posting this video. Being a Hmong American, sometimes we take our good life and opportunities in the U.S. for granted. Hmong people have gone through so much over the past 40 years. From living in a third world country to fighting in the war with no form of teaching or written language until in the 1960s. Watching these videos give me a sense of where my people were from. Hopefully, one day I will revisit the country where my parents were born. This little girl was adorable!

  • I know and remember that the Hmong People saved a lot of American lives during the Vietnam War. I am one person that will never forget this and as a Polish-American, for what it is worth, I say THANK YOU to Hmong People everywhere

  • And Thank you for recognizing the Hmong's contribution to our "grunts on the ground" and watching their backs in the worst of times.

  • You are welcome....

  • I lost a very good friend and fellow grunt. His name was John Eustachewich. John who we called "Johnny "Stack" was a post-Vietname War casualty. John, took his own life in 1977, after a long battle with PTSD. I miss my friend to this day.

  • wow she speak english really well =]

  • I saw and experienced similar situations in Thailand and China. You can seem to strike it off real well with a local, then they push their merchandise on you.just how it is. also very interesting that you took a look at the gender roles of the local economy. Its amazing that elsewhere in the world people are paying top dollar to learn English, and here in this marginalized area of N. VN you get g
