Yeap, they were all over the base. Some would even come close so you could feed them. A lot of wild cats and dogs were also on base and outside the wire. You can hear the packs crying at night... priceless and something I am glad I experienced and will never forget.
its not a dog its a rare spices of hyena that once was plentiful through out arab countries do to hunting there are very few places where they can be found places for example iraq,yemen,palestine, israel etc. but their numbers are still declining at a high rate because people continue to kill for know obvious reason
it's a striped hyena. only spotted hyenas have that characteristic laugh, obv. They're not really rare, but their numbers were crawling down to a threatened status last time I heard.

It is a striped hyena. It is not like the african spotted hyena which yells and laughs when cornered.
