  • Dam he still had that strong voice. Great actor.

  • @redfeettube And one hell of a nice guy too...

  • One of the very few people in life I would trully address as " Sir". Shame about the quiet quality of the interviewer.

  • @Kelly14UK He was so funny when we interviewed him- I said, "It's a true honor to meet you, sir." He said to me, "Oh, I bet you say that to all the girls." LOL

Sorry about the soft level on Carole's voice- only uploaded his boom mike channel- we were shooting outside, and the landscaper was mowing- Mitch didn't want to ask him to stop working- it was the guy's job, after all! Proves how kind a man he really was!

  • Sorry didn't mean it as a criticism. I'm a bit hard of hearing. I played Nirvana way too loud lol

  • @Kelly14UK No no! Not one little bit- didn't realize that it was so soft... didn't seem that way when I was editing the interview in the Avid- do you notice how contemporary movies have such crazy dynamic range? first I can't hear the dialogue, and then the explosions and car chases are so loud that i have to ride the volume up and down continually with the remote in my hand!

  • @soapbxprod Apparantly a few people in Britain were kind of frustrated with the movie mumbling in Jeff Bridge's True Grit. And a lot of people in Britain are fed up with mumbling in movies period. Back in the days of Cary Grant,Clint Eastwood, Gregory Peck, Errol Flynn et al, no problem really as they were very, very clever in presentation. Old school, really : )

  • @Kelly14UK LOL! So true! There once were qualities called Elocution and Enunciation! The US is awash in imbecility- we're actually considering moving to Montreal! :)

  • I would agree except that Newman had a facelift and Grant did not. His face remained the same and only his hair turned into a healthy shade of white........

  • @margot9230 OMG! I never knew that he had a face lift! LOL!

  • I would agree if it were not for the faact that Newman had a face lift and Grant did not. Only his hair turned to a healthy shade of grey.......

  • It appears that the only actor who looked more handsome as he aged was Cary Grant.....

  • @margot9230 True! But I might also include Paul Newman? What do you think?

  • I read that just before he died, due to his illness from lung cancer, he became unrecognizable...

  • @ashcarl116 It destroyed him. But what a life!

  • God, the interviewer does more talking than he does.

  • @FriedEggsWithChips If you knew anything about Bob Mitchum, you would know that that's par for the course. Watch our interview of Lillian Burns Sidney- she'll tell you the same.

  • @soapbxprod I know he was never the chattiest interviewee, but this interviewer just waffles on and on... why not ask a straightforward question? She can't seem to get to the point. See the interview Mitchum had with Dick Cavett for comparison, the interviewer is chatty without dragging on and on.

  • @FriedEggsWithChips Are you a professional filmmaker? This interviewer is Carole Langer, a DuPont winning and Emmy nominated documentarian, with whom I've been making movies for 30 years. I am the cameraman, Luke Sacher. Also Emmy nominated. We own this interview- as well as everything else here on our channel. Google our names, and look on this channel for our feature length documentaries.

  • @FriedEggsWithChips Judging from your channel page, you don't seem to be qualified to render an expert opinion.

  • @soapbxprod Wow, never knew I had to be an expert to have opinions.

  • @FriedEggsWithChips You don't. But if you're not, your opinion is meaningless. Like movie critics who have never actually made a movie. That's why Peter Bogdanovitch's opinions are valid, and Leonard Maltin's are not.

  • @FriedEggsWithChips Read what Larry King had to say about Mitchum. Most difficult interview he ever did. And watch part 1 of our interview with Lillian Burns Sidney. She couldn't get anything out of him but "Yes Ma'am", and "No, Ma'am".

  • Oh, THAT voice! Robert Mitchum was the only man who called me "Doll" to my face AND I LIKED it!!!

  • @TheCarole63 May I call you Doll as well? Because... you ARE! Love to you!

  • Thanks.

  • @droolet Sure thing! And thank YOU for watching!

  • thank you for the technical information, I'm afraid its over my head but I appreciate your reply !!

  • @droolet DNR means "Digital Noise Reduction"- no magic to it! Just technology!

  • Robert says "all the other studios had the lamps ... we just lit the scenes with cigarettes " ( film Noir)...priceless comments. as always.

  • @droolet Great line, huh? Sorry about the low audio... lawn mower! Did our best to EQ it out, but the tracks need DNR to scrub. Avid Media Composer does not include DNR- plus, you're looking at a 3/4 inch U-Matic SP window dub from the original Betacam SP master.

  • The audio is very low. Even with an amp it is very low. Couldn't hear the questions. I appreciate the post, however. Thank you.

  • @eotto2001 This is a youtube posting using only Mitchum's channel, taken from a window dub of the master. There is a lawn mower going throughout the interview. The final feature film will be properly mixed.

  • @soapbxprod Mitchum, Wood, and McDowall I can't think of three better actors as well as stars. McDowall didn't catch my attention until I saw Planet of the Apes one night and it was one of those moments I could see real ACTING. He had all that plastic on and still he made the characters real. Mitchum could anything. That Cape Fear still haunts. How did you manage to get Mitchum to interview? And McDowall's movies? What happened to McDowall's photography?

  • @eotto2001 You are most welcome! Are you in the industry? Please Google or iMDB my name, Luke Sacher. My 1999 biography of The Rat Pack won the Emmy for Sound mixing. Fear not- the final product will be perfect...

  • @soapbxprod The Rat Pack was an A&E but was it on PBS first? I remember being there but I could be wrong. That was fine piece. I'm not in the industry. I write on the side. I live in Cincinnati. I do hang with actors from time to time. This sounds strange but I find it odd and wonderful that people can become other people. That is so amazing as are the people with great talent. I'm not amazed by much. I'll check the rest of your posts out. Thank you again.

  • @eotto2001 You are so welcome! And so happy that you were entertained- that's what we strive for. The Rat Pack was an A&E Biography- never on PBS, premiered in January 1999. No longer available on DVD from them- we only uploaded it as a promo for our production company- not monetized as we have no right to do so.

  • @eotto2001 I appreciated the interview and that you posted it. I had to work around the sound but it was nice to hear him. You put up the Roddy McDowall interview and the home movies he did at Malibu. I was floored by them. They were like regular people -- beautiful regular people -- having a day on the beach. Natalie Wood was beautiful in everyday life, too. I don't register people as icons but I know they were all very famous and talented.

  • @eotto2001 Thanks again for your kind words. Mitchum was a notoriously difficult person to interview- LArry King said the was the most difficult person that he ever interviewed. Did the best that we could with the Audio tools inside our Avid Media Composer. Lawn mower noise, like airplane noise, stretches across the entire frequency spectrum! We will use dynamic noise reduction and gating to eliminate it, and mix in Carole's interview mic, when we actually begin using it within the feature film!
