It is one of EJ's classic songs and one of his most underrated. The guitar work by Clapton is superb and makes the song what it is,............a classic for Elton fans.
I have always loved this song, I went for a Nuclear Stress Test on my heart last week, and they played this in the waiting room. It energized and relaxed me and has ran through my head since. Hard to beat their arrangement & collaboration!
@ravenkiller1 Now, why do you say that? I think you could consider the brilliant lyric writing by Taupin. Simple life, the one, emily, all of these are brilliant writings.

hoytchristmas are we having a better time now? You really are terribly out of your depth on this one and not just on your self confessed poor search / recognition skills which are all too evident and really say it all. The drummer, yeah he really needs your feedback: have another look.and work out who it is. Back to school, kid and dont share your views on organs in particular with anyone ever again, please..

I came to this crap while looking for Soul Asylum's "Runaway Train". A horrible, terrible, rotten, lousy, slipshod, weak piece of garbage. The drummer can not keep the beat, the organ sounds like my cat in heat, the guitar sounds like Clapton has mittens on his hands, ... this has to be the worst thing these otherwise talented people have EVER done. Sheer waste of time.
@hoytchristmas you stick to that soul asylum then, i'm hear to listen to real music, two of the best of all time that can play circles around soul asylum...
@hoytchristmas "Sheer Waste of Time"--sort of like your Mom and Dad's educational support and music lessons they paid for you. God, would I love to have your cat, and Clapton could play without hands, forget the mittens. Soul Asylum's performance has got depth, and a lot of direction, and I won't bash them, but you might want to check out Roseanne Cash Runaway Train, too. You may not like that one either, but at least you will be forced to be exposed to some musical diversity. PS save your slant
I got contacted by american idol to go on the show but said no...I didn't want to because it was cheezy...did I make a mistake...oh well....let me know what you think...people have said I could be the next elton...I don't know about that but?
This is a very unique sound and a great song, Eric Clapton's touch added a great sound, This song should definitely be played more often. Elton John & Eric Clapton are a great duo. Love this song.
should have been a massive hit for them.........absolute quality stuff which is sorely lacking nowadays in the 'package em up, ship em out, grab a hit and dump em' mentality of todays music business.....
I'm Fran Raya a female singer/songwriter from the UK. I was invited to support Eric Clapton on one of his Scandinavian tours peforming my own songs. It was a memorable and amazing time. Not seen this clip of him and EJ before. Thanks for that. Great musicianship indeed.
did she, cool, i was born the same day this song, and the music video, and the album came out, i love it, the 80s is my favorite time of music but i love this song;)

How could a minute of solo contribution make this one of Elton's best songs? Because Elton John is the best artist of all time, and his vocals have only gotten better with time.
I am not a big fan of Eric Clapton but the two can sing this song real good any body who sings with Elton john sounds great. Elton john lives on in his music 4ever
great song, but i read that the 2 great artists made already another song named "simple life" at the LW movies also ? is that right, and where can i find ?
by the way being a part of LW soundtrack, what "Runaway Train" can refer to?
Brilliant song, spectacular really and Clapton's playing is divine. I especially like the lyrics: And I've poured out the pleasure and dealt with the pain/Standing in a station waiting in the rain/I'm starting to feel a little muscle again/But love is lost like a runaway train/Oh I'm out of control and out of my hands/I'm tearing like a demon through no man's land/Trying to get a grip on my life again/Nothing hits harder than a runaway train
I can't tell you how happy I am to have found this posting. I lost my CD with this song years ago. I never saw the video before! They are two of my favorite musicians. Both the music and lyrics on this some are..exceptional. I feel like the song is a part of me. As Habibi would say,"I like the production of it." Kick a@@!! Thanks so much for posting!
Too bad this ain't the full version. It's 2 minutes shorter than the full one. Anyway, great song, one of those both lyrically and melodically strong creations.
I have always dug this song. I saw Eric and Elton at Doger stadium in 92 and Phil collins was a suprise guest on drums. These guys are true great musicians.
MTV with music !! no way .... when did they start playing music on music television
