  • Words cannot express how much I like the Beach Boys and the superb covers the Fendertones have done. And LIVE!

  • I gotta wonder how many PhD.'s will come out of this ... Most of these college kids are younger than my my step-kids, then they are pushin' 40!

  • this guy sounds almost exactly like an older brian, gave me shivers!

  • This shows just what a genius Brian was! He did it all in the studio!

  • Wow, that gave me goosebumps.

  • I was at the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" sessions at Columbia Records studio on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. These guys are outstanding. Also, check out Sean Mc Creavy....outstanding. Fred/Nashville, TN--Music City, USA

  • Vocal at 2:51 -- the Bb above middle C appears to be absent or should be much more prominent. Still a superb performance, though.

  • I don't know where but she sends me there.

  • Nobody sings the bass part better than me. Maybe I'll post, doubters.

  • Old man on bass, lol!

  • Again,as in the 'Little Girl I Once Knew' video,I'm speechless.I really don't know what to say. Its astounding. Almost jarringly so. They definitely sound better live than the actual Beach Boys ever did live and they give Brian's current band a run for their money as well. (I'd love to see them do 'Smile' straight thru. Now THAT would be a hoot and a half.)

  • u guys rules.

  • let me find the right place haha....ok just the one at 0:26.

  • @ CBariSaxM... WHICH Bass singer?

There are two (sometimes three) singing bass

  • AMAZING!.......however, the bass singer does not fit it at all. his singing is too concert-esque.

  • This is gooooooooooooooooooood

  • I never thought it possible to do this song live and capture it as accurately as this group has done. I was around when the Beach Boys released this song in 1964.

Even The Beach Boys live versions of the studio recording fell way short of that goal.

This is one badass group. They're great!

  • @JamesA46

it was released in september 1966 after the relase of Pet Sounds and before the bulk of Smile was recorded

  • Mr. Choir director, I'm sure these people are professional enough to not need you on the side of the stage conducting. You are more of a distraction then an aid.

  • I hear these guys don't tour...DAMN IT TO HELL.

  • Can't get enough of this !!! thanx Edwin .... Been too long.... and my cello is anxious to get played once more !!!! How about a Super Fendertones Tour in FRANCE ?????? Everyone can stay at my place !!!!!!!! and let's play at Chambord or something !!!!

  • Outstanding!

  • dayum!

  • I play in a Beach Boys tribute band. This is some complicated stuff. Well done!

  • 2:50-2:55 is so killer; the perfect vocals, the perfect lighting, the perfect girl in the audience.

  • Outstanding! But there are what, ten of them? The beach boys did it with four and much older technology. They're still the kings!

  • @PhuqueUTube3 Well, let's be honest . . . Brian put the backing tracks together from about four different sessions with LA's top session musicians while the rest of the band were on the road . . . they came in and added the vocals - albeit peerless - under his directions. Period live recordings of 'just' the band (with Glenn Campbell filling in for Brian) playing this tune are valiant efforts, but nothing like this.

  • @micheljch I agree. Brian was a genius at what he did. If you know that Glen Campbell took Brian's place for a year, then you are one of the true fans. As we say here, "Parabens!"

  • @PhuqueUTube3

I agree with you that this is outstanding, but you gotta remember that Brian multi-tracked the Beach Boys voices to come up with their sound...so 10 guys for say 8 tracks...its about right! And the Beach Boys had alot of guys on stage when they were live too! lol

  • @GREGMCKEE You make an excellent point. Of course, Brian used older technology. Also, he was a genius at creating the sound. For example, "Good Vibrations" was the first popular recording to use a Theriman. (sp?)

IN any case, these guys are very good at what they are doing, so they get no hits from me, I loved it.

  • Good Job Men.

  • Amazing

  • This was amazing. Thank you.

  • One can only imagine what it took to do such an excellent a cover of this masterpiece. Pure Genius!

  • this band is pure awesomeness!

  • so freaking amazing

  • these guys are incredible!

  • Brian has to appear with these guys...that would be nirvana for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tremendo!

  • music nowadays tends to be auto-tuned, over-produced, over-played, sub-par crap. im so glad there are still people who appreciate (and in your case, perform) great music. harmonies in all of these songs are other-worldly. thank you so much.

  • These guys are so spot on I almost can't tell if they are just amazing lip sync artists or if they are really just THAT FRIGGIN good...I am going with that friggin good...just a spot on cover

  • @jazzman3071 Good. But could use some improvement if you are going to go as far as you are going with it.

  • Come to Holland PLEASE, You're so great!

  • the lead singer looks like a young Dennis Wilson before the booze

  • On the first verse, " I ...hear the sound of a ...." should be doubled. Perhaps it is here, and I just can't hear it. When Carl wilson sang it live, Bruce always doubled that line in an attempt to replicate the arrangement/production of the record.

That being said, this is GREAT and you guys do a SUPERB job. My hats off to all of you !! JHP

  • The Wondermints..... Sorry your beaten.

  • 20 ish V how many Wondermints? lol

  • awesome! I'd been looking for some new stuff from you and this is just fantastic. I just posted it on my FB page with the note "a Brian Wilson pocket symphony done amazingly true to form!"

  • Thank you EdwinHerder! We love you!

  • Splendid !

    I can't wait for DVD release !

    Love and mercy from Tokyo.

  • You guys are awsome!

  • The Genius himself would give The Fendertones two thumbs up! This classic masterpiece never sounded better! Love & Mercy.

  • @Rickenbacker350V63 A good friend of mine met Brian Wilson about 5 years ago after a concert in Nevada and despite his demons that he had , he is a nice guy . :)

  • You guys are awesome! When do you start touring?

  • why....... why???

  • We waited a year, but it was worth it. Utterly fantastic.

  • What's the deal with the guy in the black shirt that can't decide if he wants to sing, dance, jump around, act like a conductor, or fly.

One minute he's standing in the back like a stranger who's wondered on stage and got past security.

    Another minute he's singing.

Then he's acting like a cheerleader.

Then he's acting like a conductor,

Then he starts flapping his arms (3:12) like he might start flying.

This guy acts the same way in all the other videos.

    What a distraction.

  • He's one of the two main guys who developed and produced this concept and show. He worked with all the singers on all their parts. So he's conducting them sometimes and cheerleading the crowd sometimes. He's also the main "double track" (hidden) lead singer in most of the videos.

  • Do you know what the Fendertones are up to these days. This is 5 year old recordings.

  • @theguitarzan

I guess as a bass he has a lot of down time

  • sounds just like the real deal. (beach Boys!)

  • yes; if memory serves, from when I saw them in the Fall of 2004, they play only vintage and period instruments to fully and truly recreate the BW production and BB sound. God Bless Brian Wilson and God Bless The Fendertones.

  • Comment removed

  • What you hear is not a Theremin, it is a reproduction of Paul Tanner's first Electro-Theremin. This reproduction of the Electro-Theremin was made expressly for the Fendertones for this performance. It is the only known faithful reproduction, using the exactly the same period electronics as the original. The original was probably cannibalized to make Paul's second Electro-Theremin, also believed to have been destroyed.

  • wow- they really went the extra mile!

  • The eager anticipation and anxious awaiting pays off; another Fendertones video. YIPPEE, all is right with the world. Bravii!

  • AWESOME

  • As bellissimo as ever!!!

  • Another great one - Great job!
