Unlik as shown in this documentary, JFK and RFK rather stopped the CIA from dealing the mafia or making any attempts to kill the cuban leader. This whole theory of them trying to kill castro is actually propounded to make CIA appear all good and clean, whereas the evil Edgar wanted something at his hand to accuse JFK and RFK for such folly. They were wise, educated and visionary politicians, they knew better than to kill castro.

CIA approached the mafia to kill castro so that they can get an excuse of initiating war by saying that cuba has attacked us. Mafia agreed to undertake a chance of killing castro (which they actually never got to perform) so that they can have their cuban casinos back. Now, both JFK and RFK knew nothing of the CIA dealing with Mafia for such a thing. They did not wanted castro killed, because as politicians they knew what that meant. Hence, this theory has little facts in reality.
