Lamest possible way to respond to whatever it was that was happening. Anyone with a minimal experience of going to gigs will know where moshing is likely to take place. If you want to "hear the music" you can do it anywhere in the room/arena/whatever.

Hello all. I was there too and was actually suspended off my feet and dropped a number of times and couldn't get out!!! It was very, VERY scary. It was thanks to Thom stopping morning bell that the crowd stopped for 30 seconds or so and I was able to get the heck out of there!!!

Just when I thought I couldn't adore him any more, he stands up for the Real fans who come to enjoy the music. Why I love this so much: In around '96, Smashing Pumpkins came to NIU when I was attending to give a semi-intimate concert. I arrived super early, ran to be front and center, then had to wait over 2 hours for SP to finally come onstage. By that time, I had been smacked, kicked, violated, and smothered by moshing assholes. I was there to hear the music. Where was Thom Yorke to save ME?

@kettlezone as was i. First of the two Radiohead gigs i've been to and without a doubt the best of the two. Other was in Glasgow in 2008. Oddly enough it was because of the pushing and shoving at the Glasgow gig that i found it to be offputting which is exactly what Thom is getting on about here.

I was at that gig. In my eyes it wasn't bad at all, though I can understand perhaps how people might have been annoyed at the crowd if they were after something a bit less rough.

It did seem at times though that people were making a fuss out of nothing. The trouble was just a few drunk teenagers getting a bit carried away. Wasn't like the crowd was acting as if at a Heavy Metal gig.
