@AmelieDemy The way I interpreted it was you could bond with your fellow man, meaning out of control drunks. I know he doesn't really hate clubs but I thought he was having a crack at them.
that was the craziest concert ever. people where really getting hurt. it was in scotland in 2006 i was in the front row. i had black and blue marks where the guard rail was. crazey scots
Good to know of I ever go to a Radiohead concert and a bunch of drunk people start...being total creeps I will have Thom Yorke to save me. :D Thom's my man!!!
Lamest possible way to respond to whatever it was that was happening. Anyone with a minimal experience of going to gigs will know where moshing is likely to take place. If you want to "hear the music" you can do it anywhere in the room/arena/whatever.
@Orygyn so you think its cool when kids and stuff get crushed at gigs yeah? Shouldn't have to be forced to stand at the back because a couple of losers can't control themselves.
@SaoLorenco I didn't say the back, I said anywhere else. The side, just behind the pit etc. However much I like a band, I'd really hate if they stopped to tell someone off.
Hello all. I was there too and was actually suspended off my feet and dropped a number of times and couldn't get out!!! It was very, VERY scary. It was thanks to Thom stopping morning bell that the crowd stopped for 30 seconds or so and I was able to get the heck out of there!!!
Just when I thought I couldn't adore him any more, he stands up for the Real fans who come to enjoy the music. Why I love this so much: In around '96, Smashing Pumpkins came to NIU when I was attending to give a semi-intimate concert. I arrived super early, ran to be front and center, then had to wait over 2 hours for SP to finally come onstage. By that time, I had been smacked, kicked, violated, and smothered by moshing assholes. I was there to hear the music. Where was Thom Yorke to save ME?
@kettlezone as was i. First of the two Radiohead gigs i've been to and without a doubt the best of the two. Other was in Glasgow in 2008. Oddly enough it was because of the pushing and shoving at the Glasgow gig that i found it to be offputting which is exactly what Thom is getting on about here.
I was there and can agree that there were a lot of wankers. I was off to the side, not in the mosh, and got stood on and headbutted by the same person
@ramonesdude93 dunno what the guys were doing exactly, but the mass of the pepople in the front rows was just moving uncontrollably from one side to the other with people falling onto the ground and getting stomped on. I heard that there were some idiots pushing deliberately from behind, didn't see them though.
Unfortunately that wasn't a rock and roll concert, i'm with Thom, if u want to be an immature little ass do it somewhere else so you're not ruining everybody elses concert, they came to hear Radiohead not Jeff and Neil laughing at farts in the front row.
Thom is soooo right about that shit. One thing if guys gets hurt. But often less dexterous girls cannot react to unexpected push and receive all force of blow!
you gotta fucking behave, alright? you're at the wrong gig if you wanna do that. there's lots of people getting hurt up there. cut the bullshit, alright? if you want to bond with your fellow man there's clubs around the corner.
"tienes ke putamadre portarte bien, ok?, estas en la tokada ekivocada si kieres hacer eso, hay mucha gente que se esta lastimando aki, dejate de pendejadas, ok?, si kieres convivir con tus amigos hay clubs en la esquina"
"you gotta fucking behave, alright? you're at the wrong gig if you wanna do that. there's lots of people getting hurt up there. cut the bullshit, alright? if you want to bond with your fellow man there's clubs around the corner.
He says"You're all a bunch of bloody apes, you have the wrong gig if you wanna do that, (something), if you wanna (bomb)? with your other guy friends there's a club around the corner, (something)"
Oh, the first (something) is "there's Nicer people are getting hurt up there". "cut the BS, alright?" and when i said "guy friends" he actually said,"fellow men"
they were fighting and throwing bottles. presumably, in fighting with each other they were grappling each other or whatever, so that's why he said it. just a witty insult. i'm sure he wouldn't care if two men were actually making out
you're not bloody fuckin apes alright. you're at the wrong gig if you wanna do that. theres lots of ppl gettin hurt. cut the bullshit. if you wanna bum (fight) with ur fellow men theres clubs around the corner where u can do that..haha i love thom
Bottles started to be thrown and then concertgoers began pushing each other, so Thom and the band decided to stop the song ("Morning Bell") and tell those causing the trouble to cool down and stop pushing or leave (get ejected).
"You're not a fucking bloody ape, alright? You're at the wrong gig if you wanna do that... there's lots of people getting hurt, all around/look around."
*something I can't catch*, Alright?"
"If you want to bond with your fellow man, there's clubs around the corner where you can do that... Oh shit, now where do we pick that up?"
I think he said "You're all fucking bloody ape, alright? You're at the wrong gig if you want to do that. There's lots of people getting hurt there. If you want to bond with your fellow men there are some clubs around the corner you can go to."
bloody computer:-- there was a load of pissed up wankers who'd had too many shandys grabing people and shoveing them all over the place hence" if you want to bond with your fellow man theres other clubs for that" still, a fucking brilliant gig though, best ive ever been to!
I spent the first 15 minutes of this gig just trying to survive until I got out of the crowd, it was horrible. I don't even get it, why would you pay 40 quid just to push people left, then have them push you right until someone falls over? You could do that for free, in a field or something.
i was at lollapalooza 08 when they played and the crowd around me was so fucking rude. And at a radiohead concert!! i thought rh fans were intelligent.
I was at the Hollywood bowl and nobody stood up and all these fake plastic fans were just texting away and talking loudly over the music (trying to at least)
I want to hurt everyone, but then I went to Chula Vista and Santa Barbara, so It was all gravy.

one section ahead. i was in M1 which is a section back so it was FARTHER from the stage at least we were dead center which was awesome the sound of that show was amazing. even tho i was pretty far back the fact that i could see them and my presence there was just unbelievable.
same boat as you man. it was a bitch but i just kept pushing forward so that i could get away from the talkers and i did. also what the hell is he saying?
"Si viniste aquí a hacer esas cosas, creo que te equivocaste de concierto..." "Si quieres divertirte con tus amiguitos puedes ir a uno de esos clubs que hay cerca de aquí" (comentario homofóbico quizás ?)
I was at that gig. In my eyes it wasn't bad at all, though I can understand perhaps how people might have been annoyed at the crowd if they were after something a bit less rough.
It did seem at times though that people were making a fuss out of nothing. The trouble was just a few drunk teenagers getting a bit carried away. Wasn't like the crowd was acting as if at a Heavy Metal gig.
i was there and it was the hairiest concert i've ever been at. i wish i hadnt spent the money to fly all the way to Scotland, if id have known i wouldve gone somewhere else
That's why I'm not a big fan of GA's. Too much drama. Idiots trampling people, pushing ahead of people or even fighting.

In all fairness, I was there. Wasn't anything major happening. Just a drunk guy jumping about and being a annoying as far as I knew.

Glad to see Thom showing concern for the bands' fans. Good on him, it's something not enough musicians do at concerts.
