  • Bless this food I am about to eat alive. OM NOM NOM NOM NOM!!!!!

  • wonder about the pain

  • DAMN THE MANTIS IS JUST EATING HIM o.O

  • song?

  • @lordteapot

Insects feel pain, no question, but they feel it differently than we do.

There is a response in praying mantises, and many other insects for that matter, that if you gently rest your finger on one of their feet they'll move their feet. This response, I believe, is a response anticipating injury, because what if that finger were say a spider or cricket about to nibble it off?

  • i thought they had no pain just instinct to survive

  • I LOV NATURE LOL

    :D

  • *note, nerve endings allow basic pain response, central nervous system allows the conscious awareness of pain that we and most if not all other animals share*

  • Lol, there is no debate about whether or not animals feel pain. Anything with nerve endings, feels pain. Humans are animals, Mantis's are animals, everything down to the creatures with the most basic central nervous systems can feel pain, if you lack a central nervous system, you cannot feel pain, atleast not in the same sense as Kingdom: Animalia

to back this up for the uneducated masses who do not know what a CNS is, yesterday i accidently caught my cats tail in the door. She felt pain.

  • @lordteapot wow i just learned what u talkin about in school i guess school is usefull XD

  • What's a "Science Report?" As a biologist I'm unclear on what you mean. Do you mean an article from a journal? Do you mean a published research paper? Frankly, there's little debate that animals feel pain. The debate is how it's interpreted....by us. Meaning, it's largely recognized that animals feel pain, but ultimately, we don't care.

  • @skogstad yeah i meant articles or journals.

  • you know, this video kinda proves that insects may be capable of feeling pain. why else would it squirm like this?

  • Because it's being held by a huge insect and it can't move, so it squirms to try to get free?

  • @kashewz

    WoW! You think?

  • well, haven't you heard there's been debates on whether animals feel pain? insects, lobsters, crabs, fish, mammals, etc etc. there have been arguements that only humans are capable of feeling pain, and as for the rest of animals, it's just "shocks" to their nervous systems.

  • Thank you for your honesty.......

based on what you said it would be a waste of time for me to explain/convince you what the obvious is. Since you are incapable, I will say this to gain more understanding...

I suspect, based on many observations and conversations that white people`s brains are not wired to understand empathy.

white people are members of a race, but not a member of our species. This is evidenced by the system of racism white-supremacy.

    Are you a white person?

  • @444agentsmith

wait a minute, before you get offensively sarcastic, let me ask you, what the fuck did i say wrong? first of all, i'm asian. second, i said this video looks like "proof" that other animals besides humans can experience pain, unlike other science reports that i read.

man, what's your deal? when did i say anything about racism? what the fuck? you're saying shit against white people? LOL check my profile you dumbass, my vids clearly show i'm asian.

  • Interesting, my intent was not to be sarcastic.I meant what I said about white people.I don`t talk shit--I observe.I will focus on the fact that you said that they (DO) feel pain. I observed your words "(kinda) proves that insects (MAY) be capable of feeling (pain)". This would leave one to conclude that maybe you did not know that all beings out side yourself (and I do mean all) feel pain. And if you did not know then that would be something that could not be taught through explanation.

  • @444agentsmith

i'm a student. i used to be a biology major, and therefore, i read a lot of reports on whether they feel pain or not. there's been debates on how to "humanely" kill some animals for food, and many argue that they dont feel pain. i argue against that, but i dont know. i do not know everything, and i am always learning. but you really shouldn't act like you know everything and go being racist out of nowhere.

  • @444agentsmith

and for your information, i've been trying to make a point that other animals DO feel pain you moron. i have a dog, and i can see her expressions at time, so my initial comment was to challenge any of those who says other animals don't feel pain.

wow, maybe you should learn to read before you start going offensive. i had nothing on you, nor was this message meant to get offensive, until you start putting that comment of yours full of bullshit. and for the last time, im ASIAN

  • Thank you for your response. So that I may gain knowledge & understanding, I have to questions?

    1. You say that you are Asian, but "Asian" is not a color. Are you white? This is a "yes" or "no" answer. (No sarcasm is intended. In South Africa Chinese people recently officially requested and were granted classification as black people.)

2 If you are NOT a white person, are you now or have you ever been in a sexual relationship with a white person?

  • @444agentsmith

    1. I'm an Asian American. My skin color is not white. My parents are from South Asia, therefore my skin color is a "darker."

    2. I have never been in any intimate relationship with whites. Believe it or not, Asians are not popular among white people. Hah.

Seriously, we can have a decent conversation, send me a message. I just don't like racism about any race.

  • @kashewz lol sorry to impose on your conversation, but your basically saying you are brown right? If you are from South Asia you must be around India. Why say Asian American when you can state your contry of origin/people first. Like Chinese American, Indian American, Pakastani American, and so on. Where do your parents come from anyways?

  • @AssassinGhost Chinese American.

  • SCYTHER PWN THAT CATERPIE

  • weedle, I'd say.

  • @bobsyoruncle1 LOLZ!

  • @bobsyoruncle1 EPIC

  • @bobsyoruncle1

  • @Xeno455 def a shiny caterpie

  • @bobsyoruncle1 pokemon sucks...anime sucks in general

  • catterpillerr kill him er ermm run catterpiller run RUN OAHAHH

  • MANTIS!

    I CHOOSE YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!

  • the praying mantis was like "should i doi it?"and the cattapiller was like"HOLY CRAP"

  • i know it's an insect but i felt bad watching the caterpillar struggling while getting eaten alive, nature is cruel but beautiful in many ways

  • GODZILLA!

  • beautiful Mantis. Check out my videos of my Mantis catching and eating crickets! She was old and passed away last Sunday :0(

  • Being eaten alive must suck balls....

  • @nmryda Only before it eats them : /

  • @nmryda its like a freakin zombie attacke breh. lolol

  • @nmryda i couldnt agree more

  • @nmryda

insects dont have to care about that, they dont feel pain in the same way mammals do. for example, pain can be paralyzing to mammals but insects keep moving mutilated bodyparts (legs, wings, etc) just like nothing happened to them.

  • @ichbinzizich Oh cool, so I don't have to feel bad @ all when I kill them then lol

  • @ichbinzizich didnt know that man now i dont feel bad when i step on bugs

  • @nmryda lol

  • @nmryda

i second this! dont want! :(

  • @nmryda mantids go for the neck first so chances are it didnt feel anything

  • @nmryda not your balls either XD

  • @LaughingTombstone lol it's one thing to be eaten alive but then it's another if you're eaten alive balls first lmao

  • The Mantis is by far the most awesome critter in the bug kingdom! It's literally hillarious to watch them. They're the quintissential critter to watch stalk and snatch prey. They're humous to watch because you literally see the "Ah-ha!" moment in their face and eyes. Then they snatch and commence eating immediately- so cool! Ha, ha, ha!

  • Yup, its awesome...when my friends and i are asked: whats ur fave animal?

They always say: WOLF, shark, PIKACHU, bear, bear, tiger, lion....

    Only I say: Praying mantis....

  • Comment removed

  • @GOREgio *FACEPALM*

insects are animals...gees, learn some biology!

  • your a smart person and wtf pikachu

  • PIKACHU FTL!....

    Mantis ftw!

  • Such a useful insect ! eating all insects we hate such as cockroaches.

  • beutiful isnt the little guy look how gracfuly he moves

  • here in philippines praying mantises dont have thin legs they have thick ones! and also my bestfriend is addicted to them!

  • u meen small mantis

  • Okay

xXMikuGirlXx, I don't need to hear your badass opinion because I don't give a damn about what you think. It's only 8:45 in the morning here so I don't wanna hear the way you think it's a stupid question. Okay?! I HOPE you die a painful death missy.

    ( GOD DAMN! )

  • Oh god no. If the girl eats the dude after mating, then how the hell do they actually LOVE each other? What kind of sick and twisted thoughts are going in the mind?!

  • they dont love each other! there bugs they know how to survive and eat thats it wth did love come into the picture? what a stupid question to ask.

  • Because love is a lie.

  • You know when they say love hurts, its really effective when it comes to Mantis

  • u know if the mantis was 3 ft long n had a considerable mass.

it wouldn't mind trying to eat us alive too

    but damn..imagine if they're was a swarm of 3 ft mantises..we'd be dead,lol

  • the larger the body surface area is the more energy (exponentially) it would take the creature (in this case a mantis) to do the same kind of mechanical movements as it would when its small. So a large 3 foot mantis would probably not move as fast and would probably not be feasible in its everyday tasks.

  • no way haven't you seen StarshipTroopers I'd be a crazy bug killin mofo

  • giant my azzz

  • those creatures are so cool looking..their defensive stance is badass too lol

  • This must be a very painful death.

  • num num num num num ^^

  • these things are bad ass...the eyes are kinda freaky though

  • those grow to be like 16 inches long!!

  • can you get a mantis at a pet shop?

  • the fact that these things have eyeballs creeps me the fuck out i dont know any other bugs like that. aand why do they eat each other? enlighten me. im bored

  • Most bugs do have eyes, but mantis eyes face forward like ours for better close-range depth perception. The female eats the male after mating, apparently to nourish her eggs.

  • thats puny...

  • I got 2 the other one developed wings

    do they really fly?

  • no they don't fly :(

  • where cna i order these asian giant praying mantis? i live in the us

  • He's Looking AT ME!!!!! RUNNNNN!!!!

  • she do the robot!

  • insects and arachnids are so amazing. I would be scared to handle them, but I love watching them from a safe distance.

  • u no there not tht dangerous right

  • I also know that most clowns aren't dangerous, I still don't even want the chance that they would crawl all over me.

  • i am freakd out by clowns t0o ! o.O

they r pedofiles and IT !!!

  • yea when i was little like really little i would go outside and play with all sorts of bugs and would chase praying mantis IDK why but my parents still call me bug and told me i use to do that but now i think i scream over nothing lol

  • A mantis is completely harmless... they just tend to freak ppl out...

  • i caught one today it got me it hurt a little so i suppose they are harmful if getting pinched a little is that bad :D

  • Even the big ones? I saw a huge one on my car the other day, the size of my fist... it was scary but I took a paper and gently put it on the grass... I was really scared of getting bitten though! Is that possible?

  • no, they dont bite nor attack humans.

  • yeahhhh i think the same, they are incredible (just that i'm more of a toucher XD)

  • i have a small.. one inch mantis.. i feed it 2 nymph grasshoppers a day. they're really cool to watch!

  • awesome video about the praying mantis 5 stars check our praying mantis videos

  • hey check out my praying mantis video too!

    /watch?v=ADx2PWwHIVg

  • what kind of music is that??

  • heavy death metal

  • coll video man, pretty artistic

  • lol at first the mantis was thinking wtf is that?

  • dude wtf, that worm thing is probably screaning at the top of its lungs while being eaten alive!!!

  • At that size of life the sensation of pain isn't nearly as great as it is in larger ones such as mammals. This is also true for fish.

  • how is that true?
