It's about freedom or at least trying to preserve it. This video and my other two were intended to steer viewers to my website and participate in a movement. Unfortunately, the meter on the 2nd page hasn't moved much. There's only a month left in 2009 and tax returns have to be filed a few months after that. It looks like my effort is going to fall short. I'll leave the website and videos up, but I probably won't promote them anymore. Too many Americans take their freedom for granted it seems.
Very good job on this video! Thank you for sharing and posting this. It is very thought provoking. There is a parallel between your story and what is happening in our Nation today.
I'm not sure I agree with this simplified history of the American War of Independence: more myth than history, like the way the French Revolution is taught in schools, but I do agree with the second part.
Great music by Howard Shore from the Lord of the Rings.
ok I was going to give you one star for harassing me, but this is alright.
As the saying goes, tell a story and they will listen. Think of how racist terrorism in the USA was practically destroyed by some good stories in the 60s.
Interesting response considering that government has the power to break the insurance industry; whereas, the insurance industry has no such power. So if the beast is the insurance industry, what is government?
Money = power in a capitalistic society. The insurance industry has the money, which they transfer into political power. Therefore, the insurance industry (and corporations in general) and government are one and the same, both being beasts with dominion over all. The beast has a self-interest in keeping the villagers stupid, as in your little story. Stupid villagers can't see the beast for what it is and how it came to be.
At least in a free market system private citizens have the ability to acquire wealth for themselves and exert some influence over their government. In every other system people who are not already within the power structure essentially have none. I would encourage you to watch the Milton Friedman video in the favorites column of my channel page.
No societal obligation in free-market capitalism, not to mention the corporatist environment that predominates now. I've no qualm with capitalism, unless it's the unfettered beast it is now. This is one of the reasons society has devolved to what it is now; the beast exists for the pure point of accumulating money, societal interests be damned. I quite familiar with Friedman. He's pretty much an idiot. Same goes for supply side wreckonomics.
Aw, I'm sorry :) I wouldn't say never. Who knows, maybe something will inspire me and I'll make another one. But the thing is that these videos are meant to cause a movement. One with a deadline...and time is running out.
