Bloodless? I'm portuguese and I can say there's nothing bloodless about portuguese bullfighting. The only thing different about it is they don't kill the bull in front of the audience for "viewing pleasure". Other than that, it's still a despicable show of violence. The only group that doesn't hurt the bull are the forcados and, coincidentally (or not), are the only interesting thing to see in a portuguese bullfight (or any bullfight, for that matter).
And i hope you understand that what i'm trying to say is these guys weren't the ones that put the spears on the bull's back. The toureiro does that, not the forcados.

I'll reply here since this was the last entry on this topic. No one has really explained Portuguese bullfighting. Bulls are NOT stabbed. Sheets of velcro are drapped over the bull's upperback. The tips of the "darts" are velcro'd. Even the bull's horns are covered (see video again). And, yes, I know exactly what I'm talking about, because I attend these. The killing of bulls was banned in Portugal long ago. No crueler than going fishing and dragging a catch around by it's lips.

The events that we have here are called "Bloodless Bullfights" ... that means no animals are killed nor are they poked to bleed. We are humane people and would not hurt these animals at all. These bulls have a better lifestyle than their owners!

Bloodless? I'm portuguese and I can say there's nothing bloodless about portuguese bullfighting. The only thing different about it is they don't kill the bull in front of the audience for "viewing pleasure". Other than that, it's still a despicable show of violence. The only group that doesn't hurt the bull are the forcados and, coincidentally (or not), are the only interesting thing to see in a portuguese bullfight (or any bullfight, for that matter).

This is not a portuguese tradition,it has at maximum 300 old and its only from some parts of that place,in reality its much more of spanish influence than portuguese.
Today they don´t even allow the bull to take advantage of its horns, he cannot trespass,the bull can die,the human can´t.

If someone shot the bull in a "bloodless" bullfight, then it wouldn't be a "bloodless" bullfight. This video is depicting a certain type of bullfight, however you are lump all bullfights together. Have you seen a bull in person? I have been to a bloodless bullfight in California like the one on the video. The bull is not "terrified" and these bull are very expensive no one kills or hurts these bulls. In Spain or Mexico it's different the bull is killed, so I have NEVER seen the type of fight.

The bulls DO occasionally win. In Gustine, Calif recently I watched one vigorous toro out-fight the Suicide Squad five times in a row! And, yes, two guys were hurt. And when it's over most of the bulls go back to the pen to make babies.

Check out Korean bullfighting. VERY diffent. 2 bulls lock horns until one releases. Boring as can be but I'd bet that high purses are wagered there.

I'll reply here since this was the last entry on this topic. No one has really explained Portuguese bullfighting. Bulls are NOT stabbed. Sheets of velcro are drapped over the bull's upperback. The tips of the "darts" are velcro'd. Even the bull's horns are covered (see video again). And, yes, I know exactly what I'm talking about, because I attend these. The killing of bulls was banned in Portugal long ago. No crueler than going fishing and dragging a catch around by it's lips.

the bull weights 500kilos, if you do the math you'll see that 8 man will weight the same. And the forcados (the several men on foot) do not have weapons and are facing a wounded animal of half a ton. Call them what you whant, but they have to have balls to step in that arena

dude, if you whant to come here to Portugal and get in front of a bull and say that there is no art, nothing to it, and that everybody can do that. Then, be my guest. If not, then look away because people are intitled to their traditions without having to justify it to foreigners. It's our own society who decides if it's art or cruel.
