the reason for the little rail thing is that for one it sets it a little above the bulky dampening system and sight. but the main reason is that gamo has a problem with recoil. the scope willcome off of the scope bc it slides back a little bit with every shot the rail has a little hole in it and the gamo scope mounts have a small bolt underneeth the part that holds the scope to the mounts on the rear u have to crew that bolt down into the hole or it will jump off after about 50 or 60 shots
I loved this rifle. Light, accurate. They have a serious engineering flaw in the scope mount. Which I have to use cause my eyes suck. Anyway, they should replace the stock mount with a steel mount. I sent mine back with a sheared pin and a mangled aluminium mount. Replaced it with a Benjamin 1500 for now.
@Gamovarminthunter1 augh do you recomend a pcp? those seem prety cool but im more about break barrels do you know any better then the npss becasue im saving up and i want to know what i should get
@MrNubnation I do know many good PCP's but there are a few GREAT Nitro Piston break barrels. The Trail XP by Benjamin is an amazing gun and stronger than the NPSS. The Benjamin Discovery and Marauder are also VERY powerful and reliably PCP's
@MrNubnation In my opinion the action and accuracy and power are WAY better but I am selling mine because I just cant stand shooting it with the stock it has on it. It has that cheap fake plastic we all used to have on our army toy guns. It is high duty and wont break for sure but I just dont like the feel of it. I am selling it if you are interested. and I will ship it ( Have to include shipping and handiling unfortunatly!! Puts a good 40$ extra buck on the price )
@Gamovarminthunter1 if the falcon hunter is better then the trail np xl ill buy one and on thr trail people said it wasent to accurate and hard to kock the barrel but what i want it accuracy because missing is the most misrable and agrivating thing to me and power well for a squirl if i hit it and it ran and i hit it but it dosent die i want somethin with power and accuracy as long under 400$
@MrNubnation Well the falcon hunter is MUCH harder to cock but other than that and the stock it is pretty amazing. Very accurate and much more powerful than the NPSS and the XL
@Gamovarminthunter1 iwould buy it from you because you are selling it for a amzing price very cheep but im dont have the money nbow i just wanted to know what to buy in the future if your still selling it i will buy it.
@MrNubnation Personally I would recommend the Trail NP XL over the falcon hunter!!! They both have more than enough knock down power for small game and critters. The velocity's are close but the stock on the Trail NP XL is sooooo much nicer to shoot with and if you ask me I would think the accuracy would be a little better with the NP XL. Lighter gun and less recoil means more accuracy with about the same power.
@Gamovarminthunter1 sick man thanks but i was shootin todsay tryin to get the npss the scope ajusted and i had trouble but the pelets i wher eusing might be the broblem they where crossman premier hollow points by any chance do you know what pellet worksbest in the npss
also i agree with you on the scope iam going to take the scope off my vantage 1200 and put that scope on my remington 597, usuing the 597 for squirrel so i want to put a scope on it, iam more of an open iron sight guy anyway and i found myself being more accurate with my iron sights versus the scope on my vantage
@phgHunter It is. The gun has some sort of tape on the mounts and there is a LOT in certain places which makes me think they know about something that they wont tell us
I don't see how the silencer on this gun would help cut 52% of the noise because pretty much all of the noise is coming from the spring inside...I think it's just a marketing gimmick to get you to spend more money.
@huntwithairguns no there is muzzle noise although you are correct since most gamp whispers are a synthetic hollow stock you get alot of spring noise with that gun, however i have never seen one in a hardwood stock so the action noise should be less, but dont be fooled the noise dampner does make that gun alot quiter than other springers
@huntwithairguns Almost definatly is. In my opinion if we were to compare it to the Varmint HUnter it cuts out about 30% of the noise but it says 52%. The wood stock also helped keep the noise down a little
@Gamovarminthunter1 When I bought my Winchester 1000SB a few years ago I wish I could've gotten it with a wood stock. The hollow synthetic stock seems to make the noise echo. I don't shoot that gun anymore anyway because its pretty much a piece of junk.
@denisaaj ehh iam a fan of gamo not all but some iam with you on the benjamin's though i still have an old multi pump bolt action taht shoots 800fps thats 14 years old and still shoots and accurate at the first day, also a big fan of the remington high powered air riffles, however iam very disapointed in benjamins elite powermaster looks just like the super streak and claims 1500fps with pba and i bought the elite for $324 and brought it back the seals at the breach leaked and would not site in
@1gamoguy yeah, the superstreak is by far one of the best air rifles if you go out and pay the extra money for good pellets. i would nvr touch a gamo pellet, and id rarely go near the premiers nowadays, even though the quality of them is great. actually if you want a nice cheap pellet tht works great in all gun, and something to actually see what the gun can do, get the daisy pellets. they're cheap, but consistant, and id recommend anyone trying out an air rifle to use them.
@denisaaj unfortuneately my elite powermaster must have ben a lemon because i could not get any grouping with it and after about 75 shots it started leaking from the loading breach so i returned it, iam still a huge fan of sherdian air riffles though and iam not going to let one bad riffle turn me off from them, but i have everything from the premiere hollow points to gamo hunters and match points to the JSP predator poly mags and i did buy a tin of daisy pellets
@denisaaj yea iam not going to let one bad riffle deter me from a future benjamin like i siad i have one that is 14 years old and still has the same power and accuracy as day 1, however i bought a 3 pack of daisy pellets which were pointed match and hollow point and found them to be absolute garbage as far as grouping, sonsistancy and overall quality of the pellet but again you get what you pay for, if they work well for you thats awsome because the are cheap for ammount you get
@denisaaj When gamo keeps the velocity lower there guns are usually nice and reliable. On the other hand, I have had only one Mendoza and it was terrible. I see many people have had some nice luck with theirs so I guess mine was just messed up. I wish I could get a working model to see what the hype is all about
@Gamovarminthunter1 yeah, i think out of all of them, getting the one from amazon.com, the RM-600 in .177 is the best one. you have to go out and spend the extra money for a mill iron site, but so far i love my mendoza, besides the rough finish it had when i recieved it. it seems the more i use it, the smoother it gets

The reson that the little block piece under scope is for the scope to set above the iron sights.

now some of the gamos have plastic triggers that are unadjustable

thats nice though i have never seen a whisper in an american hardwood stock it was always a synthetic hollow stock like the big cat

I think that "double mount" system is to compensate for barrel droop. Good review!
