  • What I liked about this movie is it focused more on the people who were trying to catch the killer rather then the killer himself, but in some ways it presented the killer in a less grandios manner then other films would by simply showing him as a killer who simply faded into the background. My favorite scene is when they capture him in a KGB manner.

  • The Soviet bureaucracy wasn't merely incompetent. They were downright callous! They had him back in '84 but the brass had him released because he was a Communist Party member in good standing (despite having lost his teaching job for fondling a student). The movie implies that the repressiveness of Soviet society might have been part of what made Chikatilo the way he was (or perhaps just made him worse). So then why was he a Party member? Why did he prey on the innocent? Hypocrite!

  • HD horror definition!

  • actors are my favourites and movie is ok.

  • been watching this movie for 16 years and it keeps getting better. Amazing

  • this movie is extremely good, I saw this year, 2011, and I could not help but feel the same frustration, real or imaginary, of his pursuers, almost on the verge of tears, thank God I can still feel empathy, any way , great movie, you must see

  • thought it was 56 kills unofficially...and 53 official?

  • what's the name of this music? i can't find it anywhere =(

  • @zim120 carmina burana

  • o fortuna

  • Wow how he got away on several occasion's plus he was a political informant officer so he was hard to arrest.

  • A-ha-ha, 110 minutes of stereotypes about Soviet Russia 8)))

  • if they make a new movie about andrei chikatilo i vote for Jacke earle haley too play him or perhaps kevin bacon.

  • is this the movie when on trial the murdere is executed

  • Ya people will make up confessions under torture. When you are being tortured there is no end in sight, so you give them what they want, and get proven not guilty later (hopefully).

  • When you torture someone you can get them to confess to anything. It is non-productive. It has been shown to be more effective to 'befriend' the enemy and get them to open up to you.

Under torture, you would say anything to get them to stop. This is well known.

And terrorism is a relatively small threat. Inside jobs, on the other hand ... wars ... draw your own conclusions.

  • SO THEY CLAIM IT`S BETTER THAN SILENCE OF THE LAMPS?

    don`t be fooled

  • Yes that's the first thing i tough too ;)

  • Lamps?

  • lambs. just a little mistake

  • as far as serial killer based movie's go i tend to prefer to just watch the documentaries, read the documents, look at the pictures, and watch what actual footage / interviews they have. unless they keep it as close to the actual case as possible i find it to disappointing to enjoy. usually because the real thing is a far better story. can anyone tell me how legit this movie is as far as details go? just so i know if i should go through the trouble of tracking it down. would much appreciate!

  • This dude was a suspect after his first murder.

It's typical of the police to overlook evidence - some other man copped it for this first murder because they gained a confession under torture.

Sadly, torture techniques still are used to gain information.

When are people going to wake up and realise that torture achieves nothing??

  • @Sammicsno Been sleeping well lately? If you have, it's because people have been "pressing" other people in order to get to the truth. Maybe this is why there hasn't been a major terrorist attack against the US in 10 years. Grow up and smell the explosives.

  • 10/10 movie!!! I like it!

  • where tell me

  • best movie ever!

Max von Sydow is brilliant! :)

  • We are not English and Americans here, do you have understanding??? dummy

  • One of my all-time favorite movies.

  • The thing is that the film is quite good... Nothing to do with the trailer, I can say

  • The opening sorta takes away from citizen x
