HI..i have a problem.. i have a project with name " designing an application (in MPLAB IDE) for interfacing with a remote IR signal (display key codes pressed)". Accessories: PIC18F4520, TSOP 1136, remote control PHILIPS (RC5 STANDARD ), MPLAB C18 COMPILER..;are 14 bits, start bit 1, start bit 2, toggle bit ,5 address,6 command ..How to read .. and how to display bits?pls if u can help me with the C CODE( main.c). an example please..waiting for your answer ..thanks
@2012goingNutz Why? It's great for demostrating the capabilities of arduino. You comment is a complete waste of time. You will make a good troll for the masses. Enjoy your own arogance goat boy!
ey men i have a home audio subwoofer but i dont have the remote control to get the volumen up and down help me in this one. i try to find code for universal control but it cant find anywere theres no codes for this subwoofers. so how i can hack the IR from the subwoofer so i can get the volumen up
But if I understood well, it would last around 10 seconds to send that 12 binary digits with digital pulses of 700 and 1200ms? or they are µs?
I'm researching to develop a motorsport IR lap timer for multiple cars, but I don't know what could be the best protocol to use in the transponders so it can be readed and differenciated by the receiver at high speeds.
@chaosbiker I think you're right about it being microseconds, not milliseconds... as you point out, the timing doesn't make sense otherwise. Thanks! I will think about a way to communicate this to new viewers.
Hi , i have an arduino too, how do you know wich binary code corresponds to a certain button ? Do you try all them out and see the output for later use or can u find it somewhere else
@vacer25 Let me give you a tip: get the Arduino Uno, works perfectly is small but still has a lot of in and outputs and it is cheaper so you can spend more money on the extra hardware (LEDs, IR Receivers etc)
Really cool! This looks like just what I need for my HTPC setup. The reason I'm not going with an MCE solution is because I want to control the power, too. With the Arduino IR receiver, I'll be able to setup an MCE-like remote control WITH power button and maybe even control fan speed :-)
U seem SMart maybe you can help ME !! I made a Drop Down Gate for my MotoCross Traning so i can get Better at winning the Hole shot , So far what i got Wired up the 12v motor with one of my 19.2 v Drill battery powering it , Im Trying to make a 5 sec of even 10 sec timer with a wireless Remote the with power the Timer to off in the time i wont it to , Got any idea on what i can use , also i do have a Spare car alarm Remote and have a Resever from my RC car so what can i use ??
I didn't see you use a low pass filter between the IR receiver and your Arduino, how far away your Arduino can capture that IR signal from ur remote? by the way, very well done.
Thought about putting servos in my room to control some simple stuff and maybe some relays to control the lighting and thought how to remote control it :)
10k Ohm current limiting resistors for the LED? You're using USB power. How can LEDs emit light when in series with a 10k ohm resistors on a 5b USB output???
I got this working with my IR receiver today. Your software is really fantastic!!! So fun to tweak stuff :) I configured it so that when i press keys from remote, it rotates a servo and some tunes from a piezo speaker :) This is the most fun i've had with an arduino yet!!
The reply you've made to schneidafunk is ironic because I recently had a similar idea, but rather than usage for practical applications, I was thinking more along the lines of a practical joke. Hide an IR emitter somewhere in someone's house near their TV, so it can receive the signals. They'll have no control over their TV. Better yet, covertly hook it up to their computer to receive commands via the internet. Control their TV from miles away on a laptop at a starbucks. lol.
thanks! I made this setup cooler by moving from a breadboard to a protoshield, so it's all self-contained now. Even better, I am using a 9V battery to make the whole thing portable.
The next thing I want to do is use some IR LEDs for output, and make a portable Arduino tv-b-gone.

@0lMelhor You need to try each button to figure out its output.

I have managed to recored code with my parallel port, but I couldn't recreate the pulse (to turn on my TV for example) with IR led. Any ideas why?
