I like this much more. It feels more purposeful, like the story more being about the unsuspecting victim of an accident, the tragic conclusion to an otherwise pleasant day.
Phil, Insipiens was way better. Perhaps if you slow mo the death scene it might be more palattable for people. But still, life isn't always cozy. Sometimes it is dark and that is what I liked about the original version. Original impulse always, baby!
You are an amazing cinematographer, and I am huge fan of your works, but these seem illogical and without point. I read your description and watch the film and get two entirely different vibes. I feel the transition from this tale of beauty to a dark tale of death is stilted, lacking consistency. Instead of feeling torn by the murder/death of this woman, I am left with a sense of "Where the heck did that come from?", like there should have been some dark humorous narration to accompany it.

The shot, when she is touching the water with her reflection on the water, is phenomenal.

It's amazing how this version changes the feel of the ending so much. Brilliant stuff. Goes to show how powerful editing is.
