  • It ain't Marvin, but Marvin's smilin' down on Mayer for giving what he gave to this song. Someday, Lord willing, they'll jam to this together.

  • As good as it gets

  • I am really struggling to figure this out on guitar.

  • Is it Dj Logic on backing vocals?

  • What ever he does turns to gold

  • its the same patrol of belief

  • Wow - this is great! Been digging on the What's Going On album for a few days now, and this is a real cool version. He does one of the greatest and one of his heroes justice.

    Where is it from?

I saw Pino was mentioned, but isn't rare that he plays with JM's full band?

  • God Lord!!! Can't stop listening to this collaboration...brillant!!! Thank you for posting.

  • John Mayer is so underrated. Such a great version of this.

  • I hope his next album has this kinda groove to it. Get more bluesy with it. Love it!

  • Is that David Ryan Harris I hear sharing vocals with Mayer on this track?

  • aw, good job John... I loooovvvvee Marvin Gaye...my mom got me hooked on music..

  • Larga Vida para JM =)

  • sonic bliss

  • I love the Wurlitzer parts on this cover.

  • A very interesting and respectable cover.

  • Pino Palladino on bass. Great job.

  • he an insane bass player isnt he. him and dela are wicked

  • Pino is deffo one of my favorites out there. He is so amazing and despite of his insane resume he is a bit under the radar.

  • As someone who really doesn't like John Mayer's stuff, besides the Trio, he did a damn good job here. I love Marvin, but this might compare to some of his live performances - but nothing can top his studio recording off his album What's Going On; Marvin was just amazing.

  • but its kind of unfair to compare live and studio =) but who cares :D john is better live anyways

  • A brilliant cover. Excellent bass playing, Executed as well as it can be!

    Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!

  • very good marvin gaye cover

  • Marvin Gaye is lookin down smilin, singing along with his eyes closed.

  • as a massive Marvin Gaye fan, i have to say he did a good job.

  • thank you! i havent gotten a comment from a marvin gaye fan that was actually good. i am a fan of him myself, and like you, i think john did a good job too. nothing can ever compare to the original though. i'm just glad to see thet marvin gaye still lives in the hearts of fans and the covers of such arstist as john mayer.

  • def one of my favorite covers hes done. gotta love john and marvin gaye

  • How could you not like John Mayer?? I mean 1) He's so sick on guitar he's been compared to Jimi Hendrix 2) He's played with greats such as BB king and 3) His music actually has meaning to it.

  • which is why i deleted them.

  • I hate myself for liking John Mayer, but I do. I truly do.

  • Where could i find the As/Is album? Any information would be appreciated!

  • well see i was 12 when my mom bought the albuns for me but you can order them online and i think they are also on Itunes

  • Can you please upload JM's version of "homelife" fro mthe AS/IS album? cheers

  • ohh yeah no problem I'll upload it after I get home from school.

  • BRILLIANT AS ALWAYS!

  • I know John always knows just what to do! Thx mate

  • Probably my favorite cover that John has ever done. That little trade off with dj logic at the end is priceless.
