  • @kronah as said by Jun Fan Lee (Bruce Lee) : "there are no masters, there are only students" :D

  • @crocgator44 I'm sure he did.

  • 36 guys who dislike this are MMA fanboys who can't do shit.

  • pls see j_aR5K53I2k

  • Good show guys! I wonder, what kind of knives do you use for training?

Where have you learn this from?

  • @CLFDevil ahmen

  • mixing styles like this, is basically jeet kune do

  • @Irond3vil2 if you're defending yourself in real life, you have to mix whatever styles you've got to make it out alright.

  • I'm so thrilled to see some people that treat Xing Yi like a real martial art but not just a cultural activity.

I'm a Chinese (I live in Hong Kong), and most Chinese martial artists that train in Chinese martial arts wouldn't do what you guys (and girl) do in the clip.

After all, Xing Yi is about practicality, so keep up the good work!

  • Looks pretty good, keep it up. Don't mind the clowns who sit on their rumps judging all day long. The most critical are usually the most incompetent. Keep training like you train and you'll get somewhere fast while the others sit around waiting for perfect conditions and a "perfect master" to materialize and transmit the whole art to them in one day. Effortlessly of course!

  • @kronah Xingyiquan is not magic qi. I've made a study into internal martial arts to prove it's not magical qi, but kinesthetics, mechanical advantage, and mental attitude training that gives internal martial arts their power. And...there is no such thing as a "master"... if by that you mean one who knows the style, that is only the founder. And he's dead. Everyone else is simply a student, with only different levels of experience. I'm done judging you, the typical 鬼佬 hippie who thinks its magic.

  • This is cool, not many people have good TMA skills for fighting. I really like this!

  • lol you should try doing that against me. no offense but that kid really is horrible at boxing. was full force allowed?

  • @kronah fighting ability does not get passed on through the transfer of Qi to one person from another. It is gained and refined through hours of practice. Im not a master. And i never will be. I will always be a student. My xingyi is for health and fighting. This is MY xingyi. My expression. ahmitofo. I hope your training goes well. FYI- Only god can judge me......

  • "FYI, only God can judge me" Epic win!!! xD

  • @randyds5

haha you win that arguement! :)

  • idiots hahahhaha

  • this isnt fair. blue shirts got lighter gloves

  • @BunnyBUNGALO yeah, well....the guy in white said he wanted to use boxing gloves. Dont know why....but i think he learned his lesson. haa

  • wish i could have people like this and just not me in practice mode

  • I like the hitting while standing on brick, but well sorry to pester you but what does it really train you for, except striking when you can't get good foot and hip rotation (ie while sitting).

  • basically, the drill teaches to the student to strike with his body, instead of just his arms, even if hes in a tight position, whether its against a wall or standing on a brick. If you can hit hard standing on a small brick, just think what you can do if you want alot of room to move.

  • Perhaps I'm not getting it quite right here, but from what I can see, the people in this video didnt show much familiarity with the movements. In order for something to be effective, it needs to be second nature, not a considered action. The training that develops this is extremely boring solo drilling, its important and seems lacking

  • These students have only been training for a couple of months. If they were super comfortable with the style already, I would be mesmerized. My system is complete and very effective. XingYi,sanda, bjj, and Krav Maga.....whats missing? We train hard and compete. One of my students has a muay thai bout up coming soon. I'll be sure to post.

  • I would argue Xing Yi is complete in and of itself. I'd like to see your student's bout, sounds interesting.

  • Oh, and since you're into BJJ as well, I'm proud to tell you I took second place (>76kg) in ADCC Israel 2010 two days ago, after studying BJJ for just 2 years.

Much of my success is attributed to skills and attitudes I garnered from my CMA training.

  • oops, UP TO 76.5.

Got a few pics to prove it on facebook,

    no video YET.

  • congratulations. Any form of grappling is very demanding and crucial to being a great martial artist. Well done!

  • WTF - LOL!!

  • you're too cocky for your own good, i can see it in your words.

  • this person can see words... amazing!

  • Keep up the training!

  • I liked the sparring - I even suggest you get mouth guards and boxing gloves as well - so you could play with the intesity more.

You kept nice structure, kept cutting into him - very nice practical xingyi.

The knife fighting was lacking imho - think realistically, when a real opponent has a knife you're not gonna get so close and slash half-wildly...

Still, that's the right way to bulid real skill.

I'm a harsh criticiser, but in my own way I exibit wu de...

Hen hao lian xi peng you.

  • mouth pieces were used my friend. And we were just having fun with the knives. No harm done

  • You may have studied martial arts for 10 years......but you are NOT a martial artist. Because, if you were a martial artist you would know what "WU DE" is! And its funny how people like to judge, when they are not even brave enough to post one video of themselves. Atleast I have footage of myself training. You are just words. So, therefore, you DONOT exist. You are irrelevant. Goodbye.

learn proper grammar too. "Qi kung" , "This is farm from Self-defe."

  • How arrogant of you...

"Wu de" - literally "martial virtue". A loose ethical code of the chinese martial arts community from the Ching dynasty's era.

"Kung" - force, skill or excercise is transliterated today from Mandarin as "Gong", like "Peking" is transliterated as "Beijing" these days.

You are very quick to down-size anyone you PERCIEVE as critisizing you.

The sentence at the end of my previous comment means "Very good workout friend".

    I was complimenting you.

  • I wasnt being arrogant. I was just staing that mouth peices were used in the clip, and the knife training was just impromptu fun. Im sorry if you percieved that statement came off as arrogant. You seem like a very skills and knowledgable martial artist. Ahmitofo

  • Very well my friend :)

Anyway, good luck to your student in his upcoming fight - don't forget to post!

  • thank you my friend. I will. keep training

  • Genial genial... muy bueno

    Me gusta el estilo...

  • But hey!

Where ist the kungfu-fighting you promised?

    Only saw some training-sequences.

Ok- Have to admit that i felt asleep after 1:53. Maybe the real kungFu-fight took place after that.

    Ok, Have to admit

  • criminal "physcology" lol that ought to be interesting

  • haha, sorry, my friend who edited the video, goofed up the spelling. Best wishes - Randy

  • nice, looks a lot like wing chun with all the locks and stuff although i wouldent recomend dropping your hand on low kicks a muthai fighter wil amke u pay BIG TIme! lol ITS HAPPENED TO ME.

  • he was a beginner student......but yeah.....XY and wing chun have alot of similarities

  • muy pero muy buen video. FELICITACIONES.

  • someone asked about "why are they standing on bricks and hitting pads?" .........well if you can learn to hit hard being in a cramped space, just imagine what you could do if were able to move!

  • pretty weak

  • yeah, im really weak....but, compared to your "non existant" videos, im a GOD!!

  • Very, very impressive, keep up the good work It's always good to see fellow kung fu practitioners.

  • 0:07 i can pwn her ROFL

  • yeah, in this video, it was her very first day of training

  • Don't let the balance fool you my friend...I've become much better...if you beileve that you can beat me...the prove it. I like challenges...

    - the girl you said you would pwn at 7 sec.

  • I'm impressed man, it really seems like you got a good operation going. When your students spar, I can see the Gung Fu there, this is good.

    Impressive knife work too!

  • thank you my friend

  • The chick is hot.

  • Haha! Thanks...

  • haha, everyone is saying ur hott.

  • Haha! You can tell it was my first day...lol I'll get better over time...nice vid.

  • haha he said you are hot

  • What does the Kung Fu world think of BJJ???

  • personally, i could care less about what the world thinks. Personally i think bjj is a wonderful system that teaches you to deal with grappling situaions and is a key compenent to fighting

  • Nothing. But you can always check out Tim Cartmell.

  • you dont like anything i do, do you? lol. oh well

  • That is a pretty vague question aimed at a pretty large audience. There are many differing points of views. What the kung fu world thinks should matter little. Just like what the bjj world thinks of kung fu. It is all heresay. Reality is most kung fu guys who talk crap on jitsu have never even sparred with their own kung fu brothers let alone a bjj player.....how could they know? If you are wondering if bjj is any good..... go find out. Personally I agree with Randy.

  • It has good tools to use, but at the same time, it's useful to know the importance of trying to getting into ground fights if you could, since you can't use it where there are gravel, broken glass in bars or multiple men attacking you. But it's still a useful tool to use just incase

  • Typo: it's useful to know the importance of trying to AVOID* getting into ground fights if you could,

  • i agree with you 10000%

  • Very on point. I can see that you have put in your time.

  • :D thanks a mill!!

  • Yo, tip of the hat for getting in there and mixing it up. So many people can talk the talk, few walk the circle, lol. Whatever your level of skill is, you promote the art well. Keep checking my channel soon, you'll like what I put up, lol

  • The hand movement looks sharpe. Is grappling incoproated within your system?

  • yes. All of our grappling comes from shuai jiao (which is incorporated in Sanda anyway), tai ji wrestling, and Qin na)

as far as ground fighting goes....i only show my students the "essentials" of groundfighting. In a self-defense situation, i dont agree being on the ground in a safe enviroment, where outside attackers can get to you. But, GF is a essential tool as well.

Ahmitofo, and thanks for your kind words
