  • Matt and Donna's breakup was a badly written mess. Even though the couple was popular, the exec producer at the time, Jill Farren Phelps, didn't think they should be together because of the age difference. She wanted Matt with someone closer to his age.

    Anna Stuart and Matt Crane weren't happy with the writing for their characters after the breakup. MC even left the show for a while and AS said she had moments when she wished she had left too.

    And, Donna/Michael fans were also disappointed.

  • Yes. Matt and Donna dated, and got engaged, and were very briefly married, I think, but since Donna slept with Michael (her one true love) the night before marrying Matt, Matt left Donna when he found out about her and Michael.
