This car is a true performer now that the junk rotary is gone. Notice how the price of these cars skyrocket when the rotary is removed. Mazda should take note!
it's so amusing watching these rotary v. LS arguments as well as the import v. domestic arguments. guys, if you don't like it and have a problem with it, go build your own. this owner built his car to his taste. who cares what he threw in it. for all I care, he could have put a hitch on the front and had a horse pull it. It's not about the powertrain, it's about whether or not when you get in the car you have fun driving it. Just my 2 cents
The LS motor will drop in far more easily into the 260z than it will the 350z. you will be spending way less money also. Stick with the 260z when you do your LS swap.
20Bs are also 3-rotor engines, not 4, and he can still turbo or s/c this ls1, making it damn near impossible for a 20b to match it, and it wont explode if it ever overheats once!
i love the rotary engines because they rev so high at have that special sound to them, but, for outright sledgehammer strength and power you cant go past a LS1/LS2 V8
list i love rotaries they are great........ but the LS series of motors are very tuff out of the box and are very cheap brand new like $4000 for a brand new LS2 in AUS
"no you dont rotory is way better " Chronic overheating problems which lead to cracks in the cast iron engine block is a trade mark of rotaries this LS will run drags all day long and stay cool doing it
@m0nkey1eader so you're going to cut up the floor boards and possibly the frame rails just so you can move the fuel tank around? Sorry but NOBODY in their right mind would wants to be sitting on the gas tank when driving their performance car. And in most any if not all legitimate race parks the gas tank has to be in the stock position before they'll even let you run.
im normally on the side of the weight ratio not being harmful, but although the LS series are light as far as v8's go, the RX7 was given a rotor for a reason, it wont handle bad with a v8 but there is no denying that it doesnt help anything. either way id take a v8 anyday
carbonunit003 is dead right puttin a v8 in a 7 WILL only increase ur total weight by about 90 pound the ls1 is mostly alluminum you rotarheads wouldnt have a problem if we put a 22b in a jetta or sumthing
Looks like the wannabes are at it again...talking about v8s destroy weight distribution in 7s. They DONT. a properly installed v8 only adds about 90 pounds to a bone stock car. Plus, you can upgrade to over 450 hp reliably, whereas with the 13b when you blow that much boost you ARE going to have problems with reliability really quick. I know, I've owned 3 7's, and my FD blew 2 transmissions and a turbo in 1 year on stock boost!!
The most rotors ever used is in the 26b 4 rotor race engine. There are no such thing as a 9 rotor, 6 rotor, or anything above 4. There are custom built 4 rotor engines out there, but none more than that. .....Noobz....
A v18? lol wow. Every comment you've made is stupid. V8's are the best engines, and theres no denying it. If it werent the case then fastest cars on earth wouldn't have them. And by the way, he didn't DESTROY the weight ratio, ls1's are aluminum block, heads.
ok dont say shit...the FD3S has 3 rotors...its about +300 hp (with twin turbos) so if it had even 6 rotors it wont even beat a V12 and have problems with V10
dude the fd has 2 rotors.. the usdm fd's are maybe 225rwhp stock, the jdm fd's after 96 and 99 are around 255 - 275rwhp stock. lastly there are no 5 or 6 rotors, dude you have no clue about rotary engines or cars. just shut up while you're ahead (you're already behind, just shut up)
well ok i dont know fuck so it has 2 rotors, HM in europe we had fds with about 300 hp with the tts, was i saying that a 6 rotor exists? i was saying that even if the shit had 6 rotors it wont be that good
i fuckin hate the guy who did this. just drop dead, why u gonna take the one thing that a car is known for(its unique rotary) and just be a dumass for high horsepower with an ls1. fast isnt always about having like 700hp u know....you have to take into consideration of the perfect weight ratio which you've just destroyed and you are just thinkin "I wanna go fast in a straight line and i think thats the only way of racing". I feel bad for this rx-7...it just had its dick cut off
oh but the rotary with like 9 rotors can make that power N/A! How dare you destroy the history of that blah blah blah blah blah.. Good riddance to that timebomb junk motor, Hello LS1 WOOO!!!
lol yeah i totally agree with you lol it goes against evrything japanese but damn its the best combo between a really light awesome japanese car and the american muscle :P
Awesome!! Sounds like a good tune, what is the hp and rpm?
Any mods? Cam?

GAy you know americans cars cant turn LOL XD so you have to put the Ls1 in a rx7 fucking pathetic hypocrits
gravityhammer25 2 years ago
yea. cause even die hard rotary fans know that they SUCK ASS but don't have the balls to admit that they are one of the most unreliable motors ever

just go to a 20b pp 4 rotor engine thatll kill any v8
KaptainAmerika1 3 years ago
20B PP are good for the race track but horrible for a street car

so r v8s

Ah, great reliability, no burning oil, and 24+ MPG is so horrible for a street car. Tool

i actually weighed the car... 50/50 weight ratio was still there... and it weighed in at 2675 with 1/2 tank of gas. Hows that for all the haters?
frumundajs7 3 years ago 3
it still has 50/50 weight distribution? but how???.. it had to be thrown off a bit
fidelyo123 3 years ago 2
Nope. You have to factor in how compact the LS1 is and how low it sits in the car, not just the lightweight aluminum block.
JustinStrife 2 years ago
Every time you sit in the car or fill it up with a tank of gas you throw off the weight distribution of any car. 50/50 is impossible and a pipe dream
AcomsRazor1776 2 years ago
@AcomsRazor1776 Not impossible, merely improbable. If you had the fuel tanks centrally located it would be fine. Weigh transfer is inevitable though.

ls1 is aluminum opposed to the stock iron cast block that it used to have, thatll help some
