Hard to believe this was recorded in 1964, it is so amazingly progressive and forward thinking that it sounds like it could have been recorded today. Joe Henderson is one of the most underrated saxophonists in Jazz.
This song's melody/form is meant to imply the duality of man's unfulfilled and fulfilled ambitions. Joe Henderson's choice of featuring the bassist before himself reveals this as well.
