Disregarding the pronunciation issues already addressed ... you did a great job of reading it effectively w/o trying to mimic Sedaris outright. Well done.
Whenever I see somebody say something as ridiculous and broad as young people can't like david sedaris, they must have been a young person who couldn't like david sedaris, forgetting about the nations of us going to private school, or who are poor and doing school through correspondance, relying on the writings of sedaris, and the classics of kerouac etc. to give us hope in a flat place. If you think only adults can enjoy David Sedaris, you yourself are a child.
Well stated. I'm an enormous fan of David Sedaris' work and I first encountered his memoirs when I was 18 years-old. Even then I thought, "Why had it taken me 'this long' to find such a brilliant writer?" It would be years before Chuck Palahniuk, Thom Jones, Amy Hempel, et al. would be welcomed into my life as well.
I'm presently 30 and still rush out to buy any and all things 'Sedaris.' His work is simply brilliant. So difficult to top because it's so unlike anything else on the shelf.
@BrotherlyBesties I feel that no matter what your age, everyone has a different sense of humor and different lines that can be crossed in comedy. I am young and have a great sense of humor, finding a wide range of comedians funny on different levels and am very easily amused. That said, David Sedaris is bland to me. I get bored and feel he stays on one topic too long and isn't witty enough. DOES ANYONE AGREE?
I really think that the best way to know him is to read his books, but maybe that's too personal. Maybe we should hope that all people should be exposed.
there wuz a lil girl walking down a hallway of an old hotel when a man stabbed her in the back of the head. if u just read this comment, then her dead body will appear in ur bedroom doorway unless u post this comment on 3 other videos
to Fluffy408: Why are you wasting your time posting that crap on David Sedaris' videos? It's only effective on teenagers, and I doubt ANY teenager is into him. Go home you perverted predator
hello, weyeld1 you are correct the man in the film is Ralph Fiennes and as you correctly said it is pronounced Rafe Fines.
Sir Ranulph Fiennes is a British adventurer and is related to Ralph Fiennes as well as his brother Joseph Fiennes (actor) and their sister Martha Fiennes (director). All three are third cousins to Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
Actually, it's Sir Ranulph Feinnes. I believe the last name is French, hence the wonky pronunciation.
Also, this was a superb vocalization, EXCEPT it needed more bass. I had to turn up my speakers far more than I would've liked to to ensure I heard the more subtle syllables.
LOOK! THEY'RE OPENING THE ELECTRICAL BILL!!!!!
Gotta love Sedaris :D

"Adaption?" Try "adaptation." And cosmoline is right, sort of. It's pronounced "rafe fines."

LOL Bleeding from the eyes.
BTW I believe it's pronounced "Ray Fines" even though it isn't spelled that way.

Well done! I'm sure David would b honored. BTW, Ralph Feinnes is, for some reason, pronounced Rafe Fines.

Ranulph? ...and he's knighted! Thanks for the info. I must have underestimated Sir Ranulph. I listened with headphones and thought it sounded great.

Ah, who cares how you pronounce his name, call him Captain Kangaroo for all I care.
Good reading.
