  • Found myself singing this to myself during class. Cheered me up. :)

  • I could only remember the tune to this, so Googling it was kinda hard.

"Dum dum dum dum dum, dum be do song"

  • Love Oldies...

  • best music ever

  • 4 black guys with 1 white guy...this was 1957 & segregation was everywhere, except with the Del Vikings.

  • First song that Paul McCartney ever heard from Lennon when they first met :D

  • I remember the first time I heard this song was on an episode of Saved By the Bell

  • sounds so much better out of a jukebox,or record player

  • Im 14, I love 50s music, its my favorite, But I dont like my generation of music. Strange

  • @Jackmycooldog Yay! Another one of my kind! You are so right! This generation music SUCKS ASS!! People just complain about their lives, and since some can't even sing, they rap. WTF???(p.s, i'm 13)

  • Comment removed

  • Exactly. Very often people think the music they grew up with is better than what young people listen to "these days." If you are aware enough and read enough, you realize that this happens with each generation. And then there are the exceptions with every generation: 60 yr. olds who like what 20 yr. olds like and vice versa. Music reaches the heart, and so is very subjective and personal.

  • I am 64 and I love this music and this song.Doo Wop forever.

  • why does everybody keep calling this a 60's song, didn't it come out in the 50's?

  • i am 65,,and i dont like his music

  • Now this kind of music you'll never forget!!! The 60's were soooo GREAT!!!!!!

  • @memom010605

This song was made in '57. But like 50's music you'll never forget 60's music either.

  • had one of their tuxedos from when i was a kid.. sweet lou's, maybe? my folks used to put on shows in the NJ area and somehow, thru gift or circumstance, we ended up with it.. looked sharp as hell at a couple of weddings, tell you what. great bunch of guys too. this really takes me back.

  • I think it's great when a young person comments that they love the music. Let them say their age, it is a way to see that they are not the only ones in their age groups that enjoy it, even thought it isn't what is "cool" anymore. Good for anyone who likes the music, keep listening!

  • @sicilianson92 Thanks so much! ^-^

  • You're only 14?!?!?! OMFG I am so proud of you. You are going far in life.

  • That was the old time train-dodge! to cool!!

  • reminds me of Stand By Me :)

  • Comment removed

  • @pianoman8t8 I comment after the song ends just because of that lol.

  • @pianoman8t8 Listen, the reason that people/kids say that they are this age or that, is because all they hear are old people who grew up with this music complaining that kids don't know music and all they have to hear is the shit nowadays. That's why they do it, so that people know that this music will never die. I dont say how old I am, but i can see why people do it. Take it easy.

  • @pianoman8t8 how did this pretentious BS get fifty-three thumps up??

  • @pianoman8t8 im a rat and i find this offensive.

  • @pianoman8t8 Screw you.

  • theres a kid in my grade named Dominic so people call him dom, one of our teachers whenever he calls on dom sings this :D

  • @JKere09

  • JUST A GOOD FAST DANCE TO THIS ONE!

EVERY SONG, THERE WAS DANCE TO GO WITH IT!

  • better than rap by far

  • This was my favorit song. I will always remember this song. I have daughter who love all of the oldies. Her oldest is 28 yrs. So I guess it runs in the family.

  • hes not stupid hes a good singer

  • mafia 2 like if thats y ur listening

  • @LilyLikeWoe and GrandSalvatore96: You are both rare intellects. Don't be ashamed, ever. You're above those morons by light years. Carry on and shine.

    :-)

  • 6 people SUCK DICK.

  • @BlueMastr887

Wow that comment is, "Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumby dooby dumb"

  • @PaperHeroProductions i love you. lol ur amazing.

  • To LilyLikeWoe, yeah I had to show my 9 year old daughter this song because she saw an updated version with modern lyrics (way dumbed down) by Sean Kingston that has auto tune on his vocals and is a cheap version of this original by the Dell Vikings original. Yeah, people don't take the time to make quality music like they used to.

  • This group is from Canada - when I was 12 [when this song came out], I didn't know that - and certainly would not have cared. Great then - and now - [I do have XM - 50s on 5 (and sometimes 60s on 6) are fantastic.

  • this is why I want XM Radio. So I could listen to "50s on 5" all day every day.

  • Kids today will never know good times like the 50s....keep those times alive...keep listening to the old songs...they will never die.

  • @TheHomy70 true cause songs today are about crime and hate these song keep america alive and have a great sound i wish they played these on radio where i live

  • We're singing this in my concert choir class & it's such a great song. ^^;

  • Rap music rules. Pop music rules. This song rules. All music is awesome. This just happens to be the song I'm listening to at the moment-- it's a good 'un.

  • i agree rap sucks cock. i like clasicc to . im using my sisters account. ime her 10 year old brother wyatt she listens to all thin crap. also gta saints row 2 and cal lof duety are awesome

  • I love this stuff....I've been doing some budget music videos lately and this is one of the songs I choose to do

As much as there is some great new stuff out there (if you look hard enough)....nothing beats old doo wop tunes. I had a blast breaking out this old cherry....watch?v=mMLToc_9jwA

  • Always a pleasure to hear. Great vocal harmonies and rhythm!

  • We need to bring this type of music back!my generations music sucks...rap, autotune..bring back the old time rock n roll!

  • @kzdilla It took good talent to make these songs, rap is all computer generated and repeats over and over with no vocals.

  • Can you see the Dislike bar?

    Me neither.

    ;D

  • saved by the bell :) zac, screech, slater and tori and lisa :) performed this song :)

  • Epitomy of the fifties.....

  • I wish creative vocal arrangements would become popular again. The "diva" sound has become so tiresome and insufferable.

  • @jdawg011000 and everything else!

  • What does age have to do anything? I always read comments that say "I'm 13 or 14" or whatever, and I just don't understand the significance of age here. Music is music, and if you're much younger than the date it came out, great, but I don't see the big deal in announcing it. Seems a bit pretentious. Just my opinions however.

  • @snogmyarse2890 thats a solid opinion coming from a person who wants you to snog their ass.

  • @karpfenaut Lol, my name is an inside joke, and really has no reflection on my opinions. I don't get why you're all pissy. I like the music and am not saying anything bad about it. Once again, these are my opinions, and if someone doesn't agree, that's fine. No need to get hostile, sugar.

  • @snogmyarse2890 wo wo wo wo wait a second here. i am pro your opinion. i like it. i second it. i love it. i wanna make love to it.

and theres no hard feelings here.

and dont call me sugar. lol.

  • @karpfenaut Lol, do please forgive the misunderstanding. So hard to tell what's sarcastic and what is not on youtube. Hope you understand.

  • @snogmyarse2890 i totally understand. all the best.

  • @snogmyarse2890 No need to get upset about it! They're just saying that they like this stuff even though they're young kids that, as I'm sure you ALL know, are wont to ONLY like what they grew up listening to on the pop radio of the day. Look at how many doo woppers can't stand anything beyond what was out when they were teens. The point is, these kids today are helping to keep older music alive and you should be proud of them for it!! They're keeping an open mind & that's what we need today!!

  • @RedVynil Nope, not upset in the slightest. Nor I do I disagree with what you are saying. But my opinions are the same.

  • @snogmyarse2890

I think stigma exists among every generation when young. Select styles from music to fashion are not "cool" to like because it's outdated among similar aged persons for that current time period (unless a reinforcement like "Glee" convinces them liking them are okay). That's why some people, myself included, mention our age to show appreciation of music and culture past and present instead of rejecting for "being too old."

  • Evidently there were two groups: The Del Vikings and the Dell Vikings. It had to do, according to wikipedia, with different band members being under different contracts, plus the band members were all in the Air Force when the band started and some had to leave while others joined the group. Either group, both groups, sound great.

  • Tom Hanks on the luggage with Meg Ryan at sea under that moon.

  • nice !

  • The movie Stand By Me sent me here.

  • the guy on top reminds me of jacksfilms

  • 6 people are dumb,dumb,dumb...

  • God I love music as well thanks to the Del Vikings Platters Elegents Chords 5 Satins Fats Dominos, Bobby and his Orbits Smily Lewis Big Joe Turner Jack Scott and so many more!!!

  • god i love music ...

  • its sad the world all turned to rap . why who the HELL KNOWS!

  • @CrAzY6666NiCk it didnt turn to rap it turned to techno and that took over rap

why do you think all the beats now are electro stuff ? because it todays trend ..

  • @peace6311 man it is rap.......... and thats no tallent all that crap is computerized

  • Comment removed

  • @CrAzY6666NiCk thats not rap or hip hop you wanna know what rap is?

look up common ,a tribe called quest, murs slick rick, cyne, tupac, the roots , lupe fiasco and run dmc

    thats rap...

lil wayne solja boy and wiz kalifa and all that other shit they play on the radio are not rap..

  • @peace6311 man lol i didnt mean this video is rap all the new shit out is junk rap hip hop techno whatever you wana call it . its no good what i mean is the older stuff is the best!! why has everything change to trash

  • @CrAzY6666NiCk Oldschool hip hop is pretty good but why compare apples with oranges? I listen to almost anything and most genres have good music IMO, but yea most of todays music sucks ass including current hip hop... IMO

  • @CrAzY6666NiCk Hip hop and rap wasn't this bad back in the 80's and before. Too bad people base their opinions on hip-hop/rap based on today's music. Honestly, who wouldn't want to listen to Sugarhill Gang, Kurtis Blow, De La Soul, MC Hammer, etc.? I would because that was what hip-hop/rap was all about back then. Good vibes all around, same with this music.

  • @HIGHonLIFE1012 Oh yea man thats the good rap ! all the new shiit sucks makes rap look bad

  • @CrAzY6666NiCk haha yeah well put :P

  • @CrAzY6666NiCk rap music is amazing

  • Respond to this video... the dude on the top in the middle looks satanic

  • @CrAzY6666NiCk everyone depends on the radio to show them what's "cool"...I'm 29 but grew up listening to the sweet sounds of doo-wop thanks to my awesome dad. It is the best music ever.

  • If you love this music, go to : tlsoundco on the web and select livefeed. This is legendary Pittsburgh DJ Terry Lee's audio stream. TL streams a mix of doo-wop and lesser-known 60s rock / surf / proto-punk 24/7, with live feeds 4 nights a week. 10PM to midnight is "Music For Young Lovers", a recreation of TL's 1960s radio soundtrack for submarine race watching. Doo-wop heaven! Terry takes requests and his doo-wop library is huge. ENJOY!

  • See, im only 14.. And i love this music. More than anything i wasn't born in this time obviously but i sure wish i was instead of being stuck in this age with nothing but Rap songs about drugs and sex and killing rather than this music that actually has a wonderful meaning. And I have to listen to shit everytime im with my friends , if i showed them this, I honestly think they would make fun of me.

  • @LilyLikeWoe I SHARE YOUR PAIN! Modern music sucks the big one. Unlike you though, I express my hatred EVERYWHERE. School, with my friends, a choir that I'm in, and other places. I listen to this and you know what? My peers DO make fun of me for doing so. With a few exceptions who either have gotten used to it, like it but still prefer modern music, or simply don't care. It's hard to be ANY age under 30 and NOT be ridiculed for liking ACTUAL music and not autotune crap. I'm 14 too, by the way...

  • @LilyLikeWoe i agree with you 100%

  • @LilyLikeWoe Im born and raised in nyc. i live in the bronx. i love my rap( it was born here) but i also love great doo wop! someone who appreciates music loves all kinds of music. i say listen to whatever makes you happy. a true friend would understand. when i was in my teens i would go from hot 97(rap) to 101.1(oldies) on my radio. im glad to hear that the next generation is still showing interest in what is wonderful music.

  • @LilyLikeWoe wow me to but i starded listining to it when i was 13 but know im 14 elvis is hot

  • @LilyLikeWoe I have a way you can go back to 50's just let me get the the doc

  • @LilyLikeWoe I'm 21 and I've been listening to this music my entire life. I can't think of anything better. And I as well get strange looks when my friends hear me listening to this music. I glad that I'm among few who continue to listen to this music and help it thrive.

  • @LilyLikeWoe I'm 15 and I share your opinion!!! :)

  • @LilyLikeWoe......Don't follow the trend Brother.....SET IT.

  • @LilyLikeWoe You're not the only one...

I sent this to a couple of my mates today...

One thought I was mental... the other said 'I don't listen to that crap'

    :'(

  • @Dustyy1996

My friends say the same things!it's pitiful, people dont know good music when they hear it :(

  • @LilyLikeWoe I can relate. When I was younger, I only listened to oldies. I got made fun of for bringing "Sherry" by The Four Seasons to sharing day in music class. A kid got up during the song and obnoxiously danced to it while the teacher laughed. My favorite band has and always will be The Beatles, and I got teased for liking them so much and wearing Beatles shirts to school. It's funny how now that these idiots are grown up, they realize what I knew all along; this is amazing music.

  • @LilyLikeWoe i feel you buddy. im a fan of all music. im 23 right now and back in the day around grade 6-7, i listened to alot of beatles and the temptations. i got made fun of it in school. but looking to the present, all those friends that use to make fun of me for listening to beatles and those other old school bands now appreciate what they gave to us now that they are a little more older and more mature.

  • @LilyLikeWoe you should show them. I'm 15 and hate modern music, I got my friends to listen to Doo-Wop and other classics and now they love it. And if they make fun of you for this they're not real friends

  • @LilyLikeWoe This is better than rap by far, but not all rap songs are like how you describe them.

  • @LilyLikeWoe Have your friends listen to the Doo Wop and other songs of the 50's and the 60' love songs, I bet they will Dig the Hell out of them.

  • props maN...

  • awesome

  • I know this'll sound simpleminded, but I swear the world or maybe America would be a happier more romantic and cooler place if music like this would come back making people smile and feel better. The kind of rap and hip hop most often is just an

empty downer. It's so unimaginative, untalented and meanspirited.I know there are problems ,but a good heart and a good song helps.

  • @ToeIn2194 Simpleminded? Not at all. I couldn't agree more.

  • @ToeIn2194 america would was also be better if they exported instead of getting imports.50's and 60's were cool man.

  • Terrific , beaut memories . Wonder what miss Gaga thinks of this ???

  • Having the worst day ever, I knew if I'd put this song it would make me smile a little : )

  • Happier times!

  • MUSIC WELCOMES THE WORLD TOGETHER

  • DaGreatest Song !

  • I absolutely love the beat and the harmonies and the bass singer's part.

  • @modin former Well, if I was the girl, I would be touched if you sung this song to me. If you rapped to me, I wouldn't like you so well. :)

  • bad ass oldie jam

  • why are there always people fighting in the comments area on every great classic song.... shut the fuck up and just enjoy the music people.... isn't that what its all about? get in the garage, start tuning the carburetor on the 69 camaro, grab a heineken and enjoy some of the best music ever made gang!

  • @umedevelopment no we are at war for our culture!

  • @umedevelopment At least as far as I saw no one mentioned the name that shan't be mentioned.

  • Philly group, right?

  • @bwanna23 Pittsburgh,PA. Tom D. Brick,NJ. {at the shore}.

  • This song is such an earworm! :)

  • Best Part 0:00 - 2:41 :)))

  • @MasterLiuk you're a faggot

  • @epicbollsack -.- ...

  • @epicbollsack Why? Because he recognizes great music?

  • @epicbollsack The fact that you comment on his makes me wonder what you are then... Go do something with your life instead of trolling because you don't have anything other to do.

  • 5 People don't have a Mother...

  • yeah, lots of things were better then, we didnt have Obama then!

  • so cool..............

  • Great grooooooooooooooooouuup.

  • I love this version! Beach boys are great too

  • @Beatlebug60 Ha....was there EVER another version! In a word....NO!

  • Fantastic ! Great doo wop !

  • Josie, I loved you in 1957, and I love you 2011.

  • This is one of my favorite songs, and I have been listening to it my whole life, but I never get tired of it. It is like hearing it for the first time every time I hear it! It is a great dance song, too.

  • This one IS the original song.

  • Imagine what they were thinking in the recording studio when they cut this song? I wonder if they realized a classic?

  • What a great song

  • here because of joe verses the volcano

  • Here because of the scene in AMERICAN GRAFITTI where they tore the back-end outta the cop car! :) Plus this song has the best sax solo in rock n' roll history....

  • Folks today are hung up on race. In the 50's all that we heard was the music. We didn't know what many of the artists looked like, we just LISTENED!

  • @barnettdg - Oh, no, no, no! Race has ALWAYS been an issue in this country, including with music. In fact, the Del-Vikings were unique for the time because it was first integrated rock group. Back then the record companies would take R&B hits and make white "cover" versions of them to make them acceptable to their audiences. The R&B versions were deemed too primitive (read: black-sounding) for the mass audience. People buying the records were VERY aware of the race of the artists.

  • I love this song I'm 15

  • gus backus is the white guy, I met him in Germany.

  • Love ,Love, Love this song!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi Ed. I have to agree with you. The Del Vikings were a kick butt group

and hit the ground running with their first song.......after it was worked over

in a studio up in New York. Whoever they were, they made the group

very popular. I was sorry to hear Crip Johnson was out of the group way back then . Glad to e-mail with someone from Cory. Stay well.

  • OH MY GOD!!! Abraham Lincoln lives!
