  • a lot of horrendous acting in these stories

  • The Lydia story = Lydia's Bridge, near Jamestown, North Carolina.

  • One person looked to the heptagon...hectagon...hexagon...whatever, screw it....

  • Yay!!!! It's the cute actress from "the forgotten" movie!

  • Hats off to the "greatman" for posting this. Still creeps me out and im in my 40's now. Reminds me of that Boggy Creek movie soundtrack wise. My favorite "hole" story too. Guess the dog was a snack 'cuz the monster sounded somewhat passive...

  • it would be interesting to know where this cave or hole is now days - I dont think it is anything evil it may have put off some poisonous gases causing a draft through the rocks, making a noise - like what you hear when putting your ear up to a sea shell

  • I read that the sound-effects crew was told it was supposed to be a hole to hell. Supposed to be based on a true story, but it's more an urban legend, like the Siberian hole to hell, which was just tabloid crap. There's tales of "Mel's Hole" in Washington state but that's regarded as a hoax, since nobody but this caller into Art Bell's show has seen it, and there's no reason to believe he's not pulling their legs. Still, this is a fun, if cheezy, movie.

  • I always thought that afterwards they found the dog safe and sound, after the dad went nuts going down there.

  • PA COME BACK haha Check out Mels hole on here from coast to coast am

  • now the town has two " dummies" they should have sent the fat dude down there, the monster would have been eating for a month.

  • Naw...didn't you hear the one guy say to the fat guy "Hell no! You'll bust the rope!" *lol*

  • "Somethin's happened to my Paa!!!" lol Yep, you're right....bad acting......still a classic though

  • Thank you SOO much for posting this! I had been trying to find the "hole" story for years. It scared me to death as a kid and I still remember it to this day. It was so great to watch! It was the start of my love of horror and all that is scifi. Thanks again!

  • Yes me to. I was so scares as a kid that I could hardly talk. I wanted to call the tv station to see if it was true. I was scared it was. I still am , wow get shivers just watching it again and I am 41.

  • @krissij1 You have no idea how much I wanted to say those exact words after watching the "hole" movie. Last I watched this, I was probably 6 years old and I too fell in love with horror there after!

  • As kids my brother and I would theorize about what might be down the hole. I remember deciding that I WOULD be willing to go down and find out for myself what was down there but only if I had a Boba Fett type suit of armour with weapons galore and stuff to get me out of a jam if it was something really bad down there. I'd still go if I had that suit.

  • I always had the feeling the man saw himself suffering down in that hole, Some type of future vision. Either that or something could have been running toward him and they pulled him up in the nick of time. Its more of a mystery that breeds speculation.

  • @10fDemdays: I think you're having a crossover moment with "The Empire Strikes Back" when Luke goes down the hole and sees himself as Darth Vader. Hell, maybe the father saw Darth Vader! I would be screaming if I was him, too!

  • This one scared the hell out of me as a kid. Cheesy as hell, yes, but the thing that always fascinated me (even as a kid), is the way we never know what drove the father crazy. Modern horror movies can learn from this idea. 'The Blair Witch Project' was a great example of a successful "interpret it for yourself" horror movie. It took me years to track down the video on ebay. Especially since I didn't know the movie title. (YouTube would have saved me a few bucks of course)

  • Well said, not knowing what he saw was the best part. Scared me and my brothers for years.

  • Man, what I wouldn't give to know what he saw down there. Not to see it myself, of course, but for him to have been able to tell what he saw years later... I mean, damn, if only they could have lowered a video camera down there...

  • I love it

  • After The Twilight Zone, Rod had to take what he could get. I admire him and wish i could be more like him but even I have to admit Rod stepped on a lot of toes in his heyday.

  • Pa came across giant hemorrhoids inside the asshole of the world.

  • that scream is still blood curdling

  • I see you up here, Humberto, love your Night Gallery!!

  • This scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. It reminds me of both "Mel's Hole" on Art Bell and those "Recordings of Hell" made in the Norwegian Fiords! I love it!

  • Joe is a Humphrey Bogart clone

  • This is the best of the three stories of this movie, "The Hole to Hell"! This is said to be based on a true story. Thanks for putting this up!

  • excellent
