Great effort to explain for those who know nuts about notes =P Just a question, how does the instrument stay stable with four fingers on the keys? Is there a thumb strap or something?
@coldfirevideo Naturally, spit will accumulate in the instrument. On the back of the melodica, there is what looks like a rubber piece covering a hole. if you remove it, [don't worry if it breaks, it snaps back on] you can drain the saliva out
I just got the same melodica you have there. It's pretty rad. But I have no idea how to play it, Ive never played piano or anything like it. Im all strings (guitar and uke). Hah. But this was super helpful. Thanks a lot. :)
You would say Eb(flat) and Db if you were in the bass clef, because I also play the trombone which is in the bass clef. But it's different in the treble clef and I'm beginning to learn that clef because I'm so used to the bass clef and stuff. Great video by the way, I gave it a thumbs up :)
The black keys are notes that are a half step higher/lower than the white keys.
For example, G is a white key. The black key directly to the right of it is G sharp, and the black key directly to the left is G flat or F sharp, since F is the note next to G on the left.

Nice video! :D A while ago I remembered that my grandma had a melodica somewhere, so I dug it up today and I've been messing around with it.
Mine is the same as yours. (But somewhat older, I expect. For some reason it has a black mouthpiece and the keys are a bit warped.)
I basically knew all that stuff, but you still had a good video. :D

Are the notes the same for the alto melodica? the red one? I don't know what the black keys are;(

yep, notes are all the same!

Nope, I'm pretty sure it's only for the tenor melodica. If I'm wrong then sorry!
