The reason for this is that for activity under around 2 hours, your body works most efficiently on carbohydrates and electrolytes. Adding protein will simply rob blood flow from the muscles to assist with digestion. For longer efforts, Hammer's Perpetuem formula contains soy protein to keep you going. Enjoy!
An excerpt from the Hammer Site: "Any exercise beyond about two hours requires a protein component in the fuel to satisfy the 5 - 15% of your energy requirements. If your fuel doesn't include some protein, your body has only one other source to obtain the amino acids it needs: your lean muscle tissue. You don't want your body to digest its own muscle just to make fuel. However, if your fuel doesn't contain some protein, that will happen, leading to negative consequences."
According to Hammer Nutrition's website, there is no protein in the drink. So where does the protein come from?
