Yep heard this morning and it's now confirmed by Kirby himself... Kirby won the Guitar Center "King of the Blues" contest in the Finals at House of Blues in Hollywood last night KOTB 2009 HOB for those searching by phone ;)

Kirby is an amazing person. I used to see him every chance I got at Breaktime in Denison . He is the reason I picked the guitar up.

Ive seen Kirby a couple times here outside Saint Louis. Ive had the pleasure of not only hearing his magnificent playing but meeting him as well. Hes truely genuine and surely gifted. I look forward to seeing him again down the line.

Kirby's brilliant. I met him years back in Dallas at teh big guitar show there. Man--he was incredible.

I have seen Kirby twice in a small intimate club named Pearl in Dallas, and this guy is in a class all his own. He plays with more feeling than I think any one I have ever seen. He is a showman without much show. What I mean by that is no frills no BS just hardcore guitar playing. With Kirby, the crowd is stunned with silence, just watching him, as he masters his style of playing. He is truly a pleasure to watch, and hear. I look forward to the next time I can see his show.
