  • Weigh Is Not On Back Foot He Is Not Extended And Choking Up A Lil And His Hands Are Wrapped Around His Neck

  • Esta mecanica es lineal. Los mejores bateadores de MLB usan mecanicas rotacionales.

  • Put him in the cage. I want to see the results.

  • Isn't he dropping his back shoulder? I thought that caused pop up a lot of the time

  • No stiff front leg there big guy

  • Agree with DukeT1000, another guy is Manny Ramirez, look for his video and you will see what I'm talking about.

  • People who think why barry bonds was so good was defiantly not form steroids

  • knuckles are not lined up, wrists don't turn over, welcome a foul ball into your ankle.

  • This is the biggest pile of horseshit I've ever seen.

  • this is awful...

  • this is awful..

  • Jose Bautista would disagree with your short, soft and straight step. He would tell him to try to knee himself in the face.... POWER GENERATION!!!!

  • visit "swing strengthener. com

  • Simple - break down big league swings...they are nothing like stated in this video. If you are on the swing down train, research more. Big league scouts are not looking for this type of swing. Look at the way Mike Epstein teaches the swing for a true big league swing. Sparky Parker is another good one to look into. If a coach or instructor says roll your wrist at impact, squish the bug or hit the top half of the ball walk away and find another instructor.

  • ya the guys shoulder is pretty far dipped down. If u buy this for your kids ur wasting your money. That kind of swing will produce more pop ups than matt laporta does

  • A good guy to learn from is Albert Pujols, if you just want to watch a GREAT swing in slowmo. But if you aren't sure why/what he is doing on your own, look up John Mallee.

  • @TheTroySoldier Agreed, and not just because I'm a Cardinals fan. I've been playing baseball practically my whole life and I've never seen a more perfect swing.

  • What batting cages are you guys at?

  • That is just a bad swing. His bat gets to plan of the ball way too late. He could only pull slow pitch with that swing. Low and away with any heat and he will miss

  • So why do you want to change directions in the middle of your swing?

  • hey, im jamal, 15 years old from california ,is there any way i can get any training like this

  • holy god if you are teaching this to kids you're stealing their money this is possibly the worst swing i have ever seen. how do you expect to hit the ball by swinging down on it.... look at the pros they are all on plane with the ball. no good hiters actually imitate this trash

  • @coltsfan1116

coltsfan is right. Almost everything I see on youtube concerning hitting is horrific. Blake asked for a tip. Here's one to live by. Always compare anything anyone says about hitting to slow motion video of the best in the world. Google siggys hitting clips and look at the analysis section for tips.

  • If anyone has any tips to help my swing out or anything to help me please go to my page and look in my favorites at my video and help me out. Thanks :)

  • in little league my fucking coach told me to keep my feet planted at all times when hitting. no wonder I never had power.

  • thumbs up for the guys shorts to his bellybutton lol XD

  • this is easier load, rotate, hands, and finish

  • @IRONWHEELS199

Can you give us a video?

  • Nice, thanks

  • scum hitting mechanics is better. 4 steps

    seperate

    collaspe

    uppercut

    mash

  • @abfive You know just as well as I do that baseball is a very traditional sport. Bad instruction gets passed down from year to year. You know what I'm talking about (Swing down, squash the bug, hands to the ball, keep the shoulders level, hands lead the way) and the good instruction (level to the ball, hips lead the way, drop and tilt) doesn't. I believe you're an Epstein certified instructor. I'm relatively sure you have to deal with kids who are taught to swing like this.

  • I love the concept

  • If you look at when hes just swinging in the beginning hes dropping the bat extra low doing that will get you one thing. S-T-R-I-K-E!

  • @zarman2000 You are correct... and did you notice the lower pinkie finger up at the end of the swing! what was that!

  • Extend, then extend again? WTF is that nonsense? I hope people dont pay you to teach this to kids. With a piss poor swing like that, you couldnt hit the ball out of the infield on a freakin 60' diamond, much less a 90' one, you oblivious fool.

  • i've seen better cuts under a bandaid...

  • he doesnt even really load WTF!!! I used to neve really load and i would hit the ball maybe 250ft. then When harper came out I started loading more back easily added another 150ft.

  • A black man can shoot a basket due to tallness, and a white man can score with a slap shot, but a man can't swing a baseball bat for HR just by being extraordinary tall or strong.

  • @MacGovernor

WOW, that's pretty darn dumb there!

  • LOOK UP PERRINE BASEBALL ADRIEN#24

  • @IRONWHEELS199

Hay try lining your bat up with the other side of the plate like the tip of the barrel on the other side. Try to hit the ball at your belt buckle and you will hit straight up the middle every time. Trust me I may only be 13 but I am on 2 great travel teams and I worked with the batting coach of Echrio (idk how to spell his name) he taught Echrio to hit anything. If u have anymore Q: send me a message. Hoped I helped u out

  • I hope people don't pay for this instruction..........

  • It's James Quall!!

  • i mean barry bonds was very good possibly a HOFer before he used steroids

  • what happens if you break the mirror?

  • great video helped alot had a 2 run rbi double wt this

  • u can generate more batspeed by keeping ur hands back when ur hips launch thro the zone. it creates an elastic whip effect known as seperation

  • @jeter5100

Can you describe us how efficient movement is generated? Or what efficient movement is in a manner where athletes can begin developing efficient movement?

  • He is old and wise

  • cool tomahawk swings and arm barring. I bet this guy is really successful teaching his kids how NOT to hit. Hitting balls into the dirt is not how it's done, but this is exactly what this "technique" teaches you to do.

  • actuly this has worked for me after i started to use this i stared getting more line drives and hitting the ball to the gaps almost every time im up to bate but the only thing i did from this vidoe was the load part

  • swing strengthener. com

  • @PSTRIDES..... your completely wrong. you load and you dont hav to have a step. i dont cause my stance is wide cause i have a incoming load which means my foot comes towards the plate so now both my feet are lined up. But then you launch your hips your hands are just there as a guide to the baseball and you keep you hands on a track and you keep them in the hitting zone for as long as possible. so if you dont know what your talking about be quiet. cause your completely wrong.

  • @xXH3R0xX1

He isn't wrong, and you're not wrong. You have different perceptions. For instance, my perception of the swing is completely different from both of yours. Yet, im not wrong. The best method to hitting hasn't yet been discovered. Since there is a better way there isn't a 'right way' so to speak. All you can do is use your mental faculty of perception to broaden your views, then use will to concentrate, then utilize reason to utilize thinking, then imagination to merge the thoughts, etc

  • If u want to know how a real hitter hits just watch Ken Griffey jr swing

  • this dude is really good teacher

  • wrong sequence.........hands should come out first....and then hip rotation to drive the ball

  • HOLY SHIT

    EPIC face 0:08

  • @1:07 RASTAAAA LOL

  • @heartgoldpwns that's what she said.

  • they both got a big ol' wad of chew in their mouths. haha

  • Compare these mechanics to a major league swing and you can see how terrible this video is. The bat is never level to the ground. Arms are not extended. Run, run away!

  • ùhm_ÂñYÖÑê_wÄññÅ_chAt_wÏth_mÊ_Î_fêEl_sÖ_löNelÿ_t0ÐÃY┐

  • Could this coach pull up his panst any higher?! xD

  • Here is why this process is wrong.

#1. The load is seperate from the step. You should always load as you step (or lift the heel if you do not step)

#2. As the hips are turned the hands do not remain tight to the player's body.

#3. At contact the front elbow is straightened creating a downward swing on the ball (never a good thing.) Hands should always remain above contact.

#4. Extend and extend again? Anyway. Extension is key in a swing but you should always finish high.

  • @whsyll LMAO "extend and extend again?" I thought the same thing you did... wtf are you talking about dude?

  • I hate this swing, this is what you teach 6&7 yr olds....this is know as the ground ball swing....

  • this is really bad.. really bad

  • Terrible. All I can say is terrible that swing would cause a fly out to the infield. Very bad.

  • you dropped your elbow. that would cause the ball to go upwards and you would pop-out.

  • Honestly, the guys in this video probably mean well, but this video is basically wrong on every level. Extending at contact is bad. Driving the knob to the ball is bad. Thinking only the hips drive the swing is.. you guessed it bad. Swinging level to the ground is bad. Core drives the swing, bat is swung slightly up. Circular hand path and staying connected are how major leaguers do it. Great stuff to hit ground balls though.

  • Leighton used this video to help his swing check his video out - Leighton Freeze ( 15 year old ) Hitting at Field of Dreams

  • Comment removed

  • Why is this still being taught? Mauer, Cano, Griffey and A-Rod do not swing like this. This swing looks great if you want to hit ground balls, I feel like I'm back in the 70's and 80's when the turff was like concrete...

  • Parents don't follow anything in this video unless you want to fix your kids swing down the line. Terrible instructions

  • Ummm.....this wasn't helpful at all? And why do I need to get a special practice bat when I can just practice these basic steps with a regular bat outside?

  • Thanks bro hopes it gets me ready for the season

  • this is awful

  • load and step are good, but "launch" is making him drop his back shoulder. also when he gets to contact he's already fully extended, which if u watch any pro ballplayer hit, is not the case. don't listen to this guy

  • Lol its a rasta home plate

  • good but ur foot goes the same time ur hands do its all one motion....

  • bat?

  • BONK!

  • This video looks like it will help me a lot. Thank you brah.

  • this is cool, need some extra pointers? come to my website baseballskills . net

  • @seridkgherew

    lol.. you forgot step seven:

    -Steroids

  • @seridkgherew

eh, I do appreciate your sentiment, but the SAD truth is he WAS a total natural, he was on his way to the HOF withOUT that bs, unfortunately he let his ego get the best of him & decided 2 follow the pack rather than lead by example...but the numbers are what they are, he was a TREMENDOUS baseball player with all 5 tools, pre PED's...

  • @seridkgherew bonds still had good mechanics, the roids just helped him hit bombs

  • Can someone help me? When I am up at bat, and the pitch is thrown, it can be hard to tell where it is going unless it's outside or coming right at me. Is it my distance from home plate? Please answer. + nice vid.

  • @BaseballFanatic35 u have to be able to reconize the pitch bein throw

like say its a curve ball u have to see the spin of the ball out of the pitchers hand

like idk how to explain it any more but thats wat i do

  • baseball been bery bery good to me!

  • good video but you do not want to extend until after contact

  • @magicain258 are you fucking retarted?

  • The six steps are pretty basic but during the load up the very important "REVERSE" ROTATIONAL, HIP""LOAD UP" movement is not shown, after many years of studying, learning and teaching the combination of linear and rotational from the ground up body movements that the master of hitting,'TED WILLIAMS," taught to us all, I will still stay with "TEDS" excellent methods combined with other basic methods also.

The 'SCIENCE of HITTING" is an excellent book on hitting.

    kom_ervin@yahoo.com

  • haha wow look at how his shirt which is too small for him is tucked in to his sweatpants which he's wearing really high. aaahhh..... that made me laugh. good tips tho, good tips.....

  • hey i go to that cage its called bat r up its in las vegas

  • were is this at

  • watch?v=f-Y91onBlvc thats how you really hit a ball

  • pretty good, but there is 1 HUGE THING THATS MISSING, when you "hit" the ball your top hand has to be over your left, on dragging through underneath. you have to attack the ball also by throwing your hands, snapping your wrists so that the bat head gets through the strike zone and you hit LINE DRIVES, if you have a lazy bat and drag your right hand through the zone you will hit either a light grounder or just fly out 8/10 times. when its a fast pitcher, hands have to get through the zone quicker

  • how do you get the perfect position for batting when your a kid?

  • hahsajcbasdjhcdjs

  • this is sort of good but ssort of bad because in the video the kid drops his back shoulder which produces a pop up because your pulling out and swinging up. the foot steps are pretty well oriented but the swing is awful because you dont want two swing finishes you want one smooth stroke and a nice stride following through the ball producing a nice hit.

  • When I watch a video like this and read most of the comments written, it is no wonder why baseball enrollment all across the country is still on the decline and soccer (of all sports) is on the incline. It's amazing how many people don't know anything about the baseball swing! Listen to SadegoGG. He's about the only one on here that's worth reading. It's clear the rest of you are lost...including this guy with his pants up to his chest!

  • you arent supposed to keep both hands on the bat through the swing. you should release your top hand upon impact. i have done research and near all great hitters homeruns and just hits let their top hand off the bat to increase power.

  • @dagman9 absolutely not, you lose control of your bat head and your balance and swing plane will never be consistent resulting in no power

  • @seanwhitaker05 Yeah i doubt it... Read Lau's Laws of hitting. He tells how his dad made an a George Brett who struggled to hit .250 in the minors to who we all know him as now. And when charlie lau went to the white sox as a hitting coach he raised the team homerun total over 60 more than the year prior to him being there. BAM!!!

  • i think this is not a good video. breaking things down like that as a robot like movement does not help your swing. it does not allow a person to gain momentem and a young kid wont know how to swing right

  • So, you practice with plastic and aluminum bats, you extend your arms at contact (Professional hitters don't do this), you think your legs supply the power of the swing, you think your arms supply the power of the swing, you think the swing should be executed in isolation, you think it's possible to extend your arms twice during a swing, and you are a complete stranger who hasn't formulated any credentials. Baseball players are doomed if they listen to this guy.

  • There really is no right answer of how to swing the bat. I mean, if there was, then everyone would be hitting .500. However, this is an EXCELENT video that a player should always look back to for basic fundamentals whenever they are struggling at the plate.

  • your a fucking idiot you hick i do nothing like that and I'm batting a .674 and hit eight homeeruns already this season for varsity you faget you gotta bend your knees and just release the power its all in the knees you fuck faces

  • I like sadegos point this is u fackin linear swing. that'll get u no where

  • Sadego U need to tuck ur elbows and arms in or else u only get little power and most likeley everyone will try to change ur swing OR they just won't draft u or pck u up

  • Can you name a major league player who has his arms extended at contact at a consistent basis who hits more than 15 home runs per year?

  • scribd (dot) com/nb812

  • @ScotCampbella1 im up for it

  • @ScotCampbella1 im up for it

  • I'm up for it

  • @ScotCampbella1 how about it?!?

  • Excellent videos. I'm teaching my son how to be a better player. these vids help a lot.

  • this video is great i think it shows the 6 steps u need to know to hit the ball hard rather than hitting a little dribbler every time you bat

  • These are all very interesting comments...come to baseballdebate . com to discuss!

  • how come the best hitters in the world don't extend to contact but do so after point of contact?

  • this is wrong because when he brings his hands down to the ball, his arms are straight, thus no power

a good swing has the right arm (for a right hander), at a 90 degree angle

and for a lefty, the left arm would be at a 90 degree angle

  • this is only at the point of contact though

  • @cmbsuks thats not true. both arms are extended .

  • unfortunately that is a common misconception. At the point of contact, the power arm should be at roughly 90 degrees

the arms do however, extend to be straight after the point of contact

if you look at any decent major leaguer's swing at the point of contact, you will see what i am talking about

  • @cmbsuks well. i guess it would depend on the hitter. i think as long as you swing down to the ball, you'll have better results than swing up, and dipping your shoulder.

  • agreed, looks like he's "golfing" too

  • it would be 5 steps because u load and step at the same time.

  • Power comes from the groung up...The MOST important part of the stance is to have the bat at a 23.5 degree angle (the same as the TILT of the Earth's Axis), to give you THE POWER OF THE ENTIRE EARTH'S MAGNETIC FIELD on EACH swing!!!

  • @styroyou

Thank you Yoda........."good baseball player, you are

  • @styroyou haha

  • Hilarious!!! Wish I had known that in highschool.

  • @styroyou sure

  • A lot of good stuff on youtube... I just checked out a new trailer for a DVD called The Keys to Learning Movement...looks awesome. I've heard this instructor is an exceptional teacher. It's suppose to be out in the sring of 2010 - The Keys to Learning Movement

  • nice hat kid...true ballplayer

  • Its not a very good idea to stres 6 steps to a swing because not all hiters swings break down the same way. This drill would be best served(if at all)at the little league level with kids who simply dont know how to swing a bat.Tom Emanski video has a strikingly simaler drill but its 3 steps instead of 6.You assume every hitter follows step 1&2 load and step. Many hitters dont load w their hands, some dont even step at all. This drill promotes a specific swing thats not conducive to all hitters...

  • joke

  • the point of this video is the "6 STEPS TO THE SWING" breaking it down for better understanding for young hitters you all are putting too much focus on the kids swing, the drill is whats important.

  • I have a question: If you bat and it hits the pitchers forehead, will that go against me? Like will i get the blame for it? Like after you hit the baseball, and it hits the pitchers forehead (the ball goes straight, not up) will i get the blame for it? Beacuse i was playing baseball with my 5- year old brother, and he threw the baseball, I hit it, and it hit his forehead. It left a bruise. just please answer my question. thanks.

  • How close were you to your brother

  • not that close. like 1- 2 yards

  • @javvilin yeah, and was it a hard hit?

  • @javvilin no u wont get the blame its a part of baseball

  • @javvilin Hit him with the bat!

  • @magicain258 theres nothing u can do about it. you just hit the ball. either you'll get out or it will be a base hit.

  • @magicain258 if its not areal game then you wll get the blame but if its a leauge game then speed to first

  • @magicain258 No in real baseball it would be the pitchers fault he should have gotten out of the way.

  • @magicain258 Depends what kind of league you're in. Usually baseball is too fast paced for you to be able to aim that precisely where you want the ball to go. But a lot of softball leagues will penalize you if the ump thinks you're aiming for the pitcher.

  • @magicain258 how old are you your a giant duetch and yes its your fault you should be able to control where you hit the ball you fuck face Go DIE!!!

  • @magicain258 haha well he'd better have better reactions because that's a perfect hit

  • @magicain258 no its not becuase they will say the pitcher did not catch it and if that was a rule players would try to get hhit so the other player can be penalized hope the anwser helped buddy

  • @magicain258 in a baseball game it is not the batter's fault if the ball hits the pitcher. part of being a pitcher is that you have to have quick reflexes in case the ball comes at you. you can't expect a batter to be able to control the ball after he hits it. however, this only goes for when it is an accident. if you actually were trying to hit him, that is a totally different story

  • @magicain258 haha dude dont worry bout it theres almost no chance you could do that if you tried dont worry bout it

  • @magicain258 no. when that happens, it means you made perfect contact with the ball. you hit it where it was pitched. dont feel bad, it was an accident.

  • @magicain258 no of course not. if it happens, it happens...and actually, it means that u were perfectly on tim ew/ur swing, so technically, if u hit the pitcher, it means u had a perfect swing

  • @magicain258 the peson gets blamed becasue i got a cancusiin from playing baseball the ball hit me in the head and i was out

  • cool

  • is that bat the thunder stick?

  • i don't think it is. the last thunder stick i saw was simply a metal rod with grip tape on it, nothin w/ pads like it looks in the vid

  • wooow! YOU IDIOTS REALLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HITTING!!!! watch every single major league hitter no one does that.... worst hitting drill ever seen... mechanics of the swing are horrible

  • your gay

  • I agree you must let or draw the natural ability of your baseball trainee, but I have broken down his technique into three steps and taught my son the importance of fully extending his swing concentrating on contact only even though he plays for little league where home runs should not be a batter's goal he is no the best player but because of this video he's considered a hitter in the league.

  • this guys is wrong.. he is implying that there is only one way to hit....WRONG! "short, soft, and straight"...Many players have high leg kicks ex. Manny Ramirez and Gary Sheffield...My hitting Coach is a former pro and he explains that there is no one way to be a successful hitter...It is purely based on comfort and effectiveness.

  • Yes, for comfort there are many personal style variations at stance and after full extension, but Manny and Garry look exactly the same from launch to full extension. Look at some video or stills at launch, contact, and after contact, all MLB players look exactly the same.
