LL's defenders always seems to say "but listen to the music, never mind his face." OK, so my question is: why would an LL fan post less than 2 minutes of the middle of a movement (not even the whole thing, which is quite short anyway) in which the main focus is ON HIS FACE. This has nothing to do with the music. LL can play very beautifully for short moments, but he never manages to construct an ENTIRE interpretation. It's all about what he can milk out of moments. Like a ham actor. Cheesy

There are other pianists - Mitsuko Uchida and Glenn Gould for example - who are facially and physically expressive when they perform, Glenn Gould even hums along. So isn't it a bit presumptuous for laymen to impose their flawed ideas of performance etiquette on artists?  A true music lover would just listen.

I'm so sick of all those haters. Go laugh about Pop and Rock Musicians and their faces and grimaces. People laughed about Gould's faces, now the same people worship him. If Lang Lang feels the need for it, he has every justification to let himself go. Pitty you have never experienced that kind of rush in music which tears you totally apart. And if you still cant stand it, just turn around. Works magic if you have ears to hear how beautifully he plays.
