Debra Medina is doing an excellent job of destroying herself. I strongly support efforts by states to either secede, or decare some measure of sovereignity. The HUGE national debt, brought on by the unnecessary wars, drags down the finances of every state.
THIS is the main reason for the tea party movement ------ the fact that Washington does not support the American people, but Israel.

I agree with "be sure volunteers have a place." I TRIED to get involved when McCain about to be nominated, I was not sent up after being Williamson Co. deligate. The old, I stress OLD lady interviewing myself & wife telegraphed we'd failed THAT interview, soon as we said we're soc. conservatives!
@oakcliffhood When I was there (District 23), I had people yelling at me that I didn't deserve to be there, I take it because of my beard and dark skin, and voting for Medina.
Now this is a True Texan. Well spoken Mrs. Medina! You've got my vote & any financial support that I am able to give. I hope everyone who loves their constitution including but not exclusively the "2nd Amendment" right to bear arms will vote for this patriot...Debra Medina. T/Y
I love how she calls out Perry and then the camera show him all fidgeting! Go Debra! She has got more "Balls" than most men, ESP those in the Republican PARTY!
All except Ron Paul & Rand Paul:) Speaking in terms of balls.. Ron Paul needs a dump truck to carry his! I support Debra and all who support the Constitution. I'm seriously considering moving to TX! California sucks!
The thing that pissed me off the most about that opening was how they had to show us all those dumb propaganda films about terrorist attacks and stuff.
Would someone like to explain to me some more about that issue of immunizing every 11 year old girl she alluded to. And please also explain what Debra's position on that issue is?
Bertuzzi refused to hand them over. In an email to Kay Fischer, he said he had asked State Republican chairman Tina Benkiser for instructions. In direct violation of RPT (Republican Party of Texas) Rule 22b, Frau Benkiser, a lawyer, advised county chairmen that convention minutes are not public record and that chairmen are not required to make them available.
Mrs. Cahill was puzzled. This was her first convention. She is one corpuscle among the "new blood" the Texas Republican Party says it wants. Something seemed to be wrong, so she hit the rule book and found out what it was. What was happening was a violation of party rules and the Texas Election Code. So, she asked county chairman Michael Bertuzzi for a copy of the minutes, which are supposed to be public record. The minutes would show who was elected at precinct.
Mrs. Cahill's precinct was allowed twenty nine delegates to the county convention. The precinct caucus chose only thirteen, including a wife who was not well and did not attend. Why the caucus did not choose another sixteen to flesh out the twenty nine they were allowed, we don't know, but they did not. In the parking lot after the caucus, RoeLear Machem, chairman of precinct 65 in Nueces County, told Mrs. Cahill that she would add the missing sixteen names later.
As the convention approached, reports of the usual violations of party rules flowed in. Certainly the worst was what happened in Nueces County. Vanessa Cahill is a Corpus Christi artist married to a physician. In politics everything starts in small, local groups called precincts. She was a precinct delegate to the county convention. Party rules say that you can be elected such a delegate if you are not present at the precinct caucus, but after the caucus ends, no one can be added.
It is probably not an exaggeration to say that Republican bosses fear and hate Dr. No more than the American Communist Liars Union fears and hates Jesus Christ. If the only thing you knew about Ron Paul were what the Republican Party and ACLU says about him, you probably would expect to meet a combination of Hitler and Godzilla, not the mild, professorial, ladies' doctor he actually is.
Of course, all of these outrages are motivated by the Republican Party's fear and loathing of Ron Paul. They used to send big shot Republicans like Newtie and Jorge W. Boosh to defeat him for re-election to Congress. They failed, of course, but recently they tried again. Dr. No won renomination to his House seat with 72% of the vote. The Democrats don't waste time and money opposing him.
In Nevada, for instance, when Las Vegas Republicans saw that Paul supporters outnumbered them, they shut down the convention to prevent a vote. By now you know that Republican bosses perpetrated similar electoral atrocities around the country. Because Texas is Texas, at the George R. Brown Convention Center they were worse.
The Texas Republican Convention brags that it is the biggest political convention in the country. How it could be bigger than the national conventions, I don't know, but that is what it brags, no surprise because it is Texas. Indeed, because Texas does everything bigger, even more of the corruption and criminality we have seen in other state conventions was the rule at the just concluded performance I attended in Houston.
You have to establish the The Leadership before you can talk business. The business was not being determined when she spoke. The different committees met all week and were open to the public...but the Paulies wanted to rehash it out during the General Session before we had the chance in our Senate Districts to debate and discuss our noms for State Chair and Vice Chair. Thats where the Paulies voted and lost in the Senate Districts. It translated to defeat in the next General Session.
Too bad Debra and Paul didn't get the Superman theme music and a chance to parade around the stage to the theme from Rocky fifty times before the vote was taken. They might have faired better.
I heard a great line at the convention. Someone asked if, after Benkiser and her puppet made one of their jaunts around the stage - waving to people as if they had not seen them in years in stead of merely five minutes earlier, he asked me, "I wonder when we'll get to the swimsuit portion of the pageant?"
Paul Perry had his music and lost the election for Party Chair. They all had music...regardless...Tina and Robin are good people and all the hoopla is just that...life goes on...and sorry you are too stuck up on the music played and not the message.
You betray your bitterness toward divergent viewpoints through your heavy-handed criticism and personal attack; not really the spirit of the uplifting event we attended.
.
In spite of my note on the music, which was obviously meant to be merely a humorous but accurate observation, I did feel inspired by the entire weekend.
"humerous" is not comparing the display of Tina and Robin a "pageant". Talking bout bitter. As far as "heavy-handed criticism", this is far from that. The spirit of the uplifting event...as you put it...do you actually think it was uplifting? I think it was divided and showed more split than anything. The picking at Robert's Rules is not going to change anything. Even at the court case...where there was disrespect to the judge by the Paulie group, even the judge made comment. WOW!
I agree with you to applaud those in the party leadership. Honestly, Tina was put through the ringer and was very patient and seemed to get the blunt of it all. The anger should be towards the system and not the individuals. After all Texas has a winner takes all delegates. That's not her fault.
WOW so creative...so imaginative. This is what Im talking about. Ya keep on trying to insult others instead of debate the issues or look at the facts. How can you have inclusion when all yall seem to do is point fingers and shout "UNFAIR!". You tell everyone else to open our minds to the possibilities and stop excluding yall, then you start shouting insults even if someone starts debate or discussion.
It's only an act of deperation. Bless your little hearts. Thumbs up for you.
I applaud those in the party leadership, and there were several, who kept their minds and arms open to the enthusiastic influx of potential energy that the party will need between now and November.
.
Some people build bridges; others burn them.
.
Specifically, I would thank Senate District 16 Chair, Dan Pickens. We may have had heated debates on some issues but he was always conscious first of his responsibilities as our district standard bearer and served us admirably; a credit to the party.
An excellent speech, Debra! I hope we can get this party going in the right direction soon. Keep up the good work - I'm just getting started in my own neck of the woods!
I was so disgusted with so much that happened at the convention, Im glad that I at least got to see Dr. Paul. All I can see as a result of this ridiculous platform is Obama as President because Mccain is such a weak candidate.
I guess I need to make myself clearer....I'd vote Libertarian only as a protest vote as I realize how flawed their candidates are and they have absolutely no chance of winning. I refuse to vote for Obama or McCain. If by some miracle Ron Paul gets on the ballot that's where my vote & heart is.
Ha, did anyone notice when they elected the vice chairman (a guy) that his theme was "We Are Family"? That song is about a girl and her sisters, what idiots! Debra was outstanding, she's got my backing.
Thanks to Ron Paul, I became involved in the process here in Texas, worked alongside hundreds of people I'm now proud to call friends, and attended the GOP convention as a delegate with my husband as an alternate. Debra Medina is my hero and I'm honored join her in the fight for liberty. We are also teaching our children to ensure they'll be able to carry on the revolution in case victory is not achieved in our lifetimes.
Please join us in Minneapolis on 9/2/08! Our numbers are growing!
Debra, you a truly the epitome of courageousness. I thank you for everything that you have done to ensure that the rules are followed and that the voice of the people is properly heard. Thank you for standing up for what you believe in and what is right. It is people like you who are the true heroes of the American people.
It'll be fun getting that lying and cheating poser, Tina Benkiser, out of her position of power. She seems rather entrenched, but I have resolved to do whatever it takes to double or triple the number of people who voted against her for the 2010 convention.
Actually the way the rules were interpeted... if the Chair is a woman, then the Vice-Chair will be a man, and vice versa...if a man is Chair, then the Vice-Chair will be a woman. In this case Paul Perry and Tina were nominated for the Chair and Tina won. So for Vice Chair, a man had to be elected.
Debra, you are a true hero to many for standing up for what is right. Thanks for everything you have done to ensure our voices be heard and the law be followed!
Way to go Debra!!! Things haven't been going too well so far, but you are one extremely brave woman. I applaud and respect you. Eventually the tide will turn... and we'll be ready.
The permanent convention chair was officially elected sometime Thursday afternoon after almost 2 full days were finished. This is exactly what she was talking about. Unfortunately two-thirds of the people there were "drinking the kool-aid" and made sure that all the incumbents stayed in their positions.
sure, if you want an ex-Republican who only slightly denounces the war in Iraq, says nothing about sound monetary policy, voted for the Patriot Act, and consistently for years was an enthusiastic support of the War on Drugs.

Paul. All I can see as a result of this ridiculous platform is Obama as President because Mccain is such a weak candidate.
drfloppyowns 3 years ago
I guess I need to make myself clearer....I'd vote Libertarian only as a protest vote as I realize how flawed their candidates are and they have absolutely no chance of winning. I refuse to vote for Obama or McCain. If by some miracle Ron Paul gets on the ballot that's where my vote & heart is.
Rhondar9 3 years ago 2

People, please stay involved. It will take time to refill the grassroots and displace the ramrodding tyrannical Tina Benkiser.
Mavrikgirl 3 years ago 2
It'll be fun getting that lying and cheating poser, Tina Benkiser, out of her position of power. She seems rather entrenched, but I have resolved to do whatever it takes to double or triple the number of people who voted against her for the 2010 convention.

She is awesome how could Texas not elect her Vice chair? Give me some of that koolaid Texas it must make you ignorant. I wish I was ignorant!
fishbuc11 3 years ago
Actually the way the rules were interpeted... if the Chair is a woman, then the Vice-Chair will be a man, and vice versa...if a man is Chair, then the Vice-Chair will be a woman. In this case Paul Perry and Tina were nominated for the Chair and Tina won. So for Vice Chair, a man had to be elected.

What was the last thing she said? It isn't audible in this recording, but I saw her lips moving. o.O

Absolutely correct. If the state GOP has to be destroyed, then so be it. It's not Republican now anyway, so what difference would it make?

Way to go Debra!!! Things haven't been going too well so far, but you are one extremely brave woman. I applaud and respect you. Eventually the tide will turn... and we'll be ready.
The permanent convention chair was officially elected sometime Thursday afternoon after almost 2 full days were finished. This is exactly what she was talking about. Unfortunately two-thirds of the people there were "drinking the kool-aid" and made sure that all the incumbents stayed in their positions.

I'm not voting for McCain or Obama...a shame Ron Paul dropped out....guess it's libertarian time
Rhondar9 3 years ago
sure, if you want an ex-Republican who only slightly denounces the war in Iraq, says nothing about sound monetary policy, voted for the Patriot Act, and consistently for years was an enthusiastic support of the War on Drugs.
Barr is no libertarian.
PhUTube4Evah 3 years ago 3
Neither is Wayne Allen Root, VP candidate on the libertarian ticket, who says Ron Paul is "weak on defense and weak on terror."
So much for that ticket. The libertarian party got it wrong in 2008.
immanent 3 years ago 5
He didn't drop out. He only stopped campaigning. The libertarian candidate is no good!
shesapainter 3 years ago 2
Dont give up he can still be nominated. Or even written in.
Squirelbutt 3 years ago 2
I am praying for that but if not no way will I vote for that idiot McCain....and I sure don't want socialist Obama.
I guess Nader is the only option then....or the libertarians but I've since learned they are worthless too. Sad, no good choices.
