The equation in the lyrics is indeed the equation for the classic Mandelbrot set. It is not a special case of the Julia fractal. rather, there is a corresponding Julia fractal for every point in the Mandelbrot set. They are like cousins.
In order to get a picture of the Mandelbrot set, you have to pick lots of C's. Each one represents a pixel, and you color the pixels based on how long they take to escape, or if they never escape.
I love this song to death, but if the equation isn't for the mandlebrot set, doesn't that kinda take away from the song? Maybe its just me. Is the equation for the mandlebrot set hard to put into lyrics? Let me know as I don't know much about higher math.
