no not really, look at what they wear, torso instead of rune plate or something like that, climbers instead of rune or dragon boots, their def was a lot lower than what we use now. if you had said rs2 compared to rsc then it would be true, in rsc it was in fact more accurate and harder based on stats and wasnt about luck it was purely skill on who won fights.

RS' predecessor, DeviousMUD, had been finished at around 1996. However, Andrew Gower never released it publicy. Instead, he started developing Runescape(the pseudo 3D one) and made that public after years of development.
