  • WOW, it ALMOST does work!

  • My word. Never tried that soundtrack to LOTR before. Perhaps this December I'll do just that. Thanks for a great compilation! :) My tip: Jurassic Park (the first one) soundtrack also works.

  • I love reading LOTR to the killing fields and also vangelis music works well cheers for the comment

  • [inscription on the ring:]

Ash nazg durbatulk, ash nazg gimbatul

Ash nazg thrakatulk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul

    [translation from the black speech:]

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,

One Ring to bring them all and in the Darkness bind them.]

  • quality, i cant stop watching this

  • Dude, kudos for including Bill Nighy singing. The Fall of Gil-galad is just pure magic when it comes out of his mouth.

  • was dat song from sam about the fall of sauron ?

  • No!.. Gil-galad was Elven-king was the last of the High Kings of the Noldor-in-Exile in Middle-earth.He formed the Last Alliance of Elves and Men with Elendi At the end of the siege, both Gil-galad and Elendil aided in the overthrow of Saurons perished themselves in the assault. it.s about his death.

  • I really enjoyed this - and you are right - the music DOES fit nicely!

  • good work!! Enjoyed this.

  • how could he not understand?

  • Good point! I think it because he first come across LOTR as script and was working on it as they recorded the radio session.

  • more involved than the film! i listened to this a long time ago...gandalf was played by the man who did PADDINGTON BEAR!!!!!!

  • Yeah!ha ha!!! that right. He was also a brilliant actor form Where Eagles Dare to Oliver Twist (1959)He play in many black white war films. But the funny thing ,when he did the voice over for LOTR he said he didn't understand it, and yet it one of his best work. well I think...

  • is this from the bbc radio play?

  • yes dramatised version

  • This is no less then great, I realy wanna read the books right now!!

  • Yeah, I know what you mean, If you do before you start reading get prepared first get a copy of the killing fields, then a good sound system or head phone's darken the room and

a good light to read by, and your there.

    give it a go....

  • Just as a wonder, is there any chance that you might have the version of Sam's song from the BBC recordings? The one he sang in the orc tower?

  • As jimsim3 says, it's the Ode to GilGalad sung by the actor Bill Nighy. I have this on most formats if you like.

  • Not that one. In Western Lands I think is the name of the one I'm looking for.

  • In western lands beneath the Sun the flowers may rise in Spring, the trees may bud, the waters run, the merry finches sing. Or there maybe tis cloudless night and swaying beeches bear the Elvenstars as jewels white amid their branching hair. Though here at journeys end I lie in darkness buried deep, beyond all towers strong and high, beyond all mountains steep, above all shadows rides the Sun and Stars for ever dwell: I will not say the Day is done, nor bid the Stars farewell.
