  • FUCKIN BEST BAND IN AUSTRALIA OR THE WORLD FOR THAT MATTER.

  • I believe they should have had more exposure O/S and Australia too, BUT when YAI toured with Oasis in Japan they fookin loved them!!! the Gallagher boys didn't miss a performance loved their 60's street smarts in the late 90's (they could play- other words), wanted to hang out with Tim, Andy & Russel but they weren't into it!!!! that's there decision. Supporting Oasis back then would have opened up avenues. After no.4 record I did loose interest. Cairns with Chisel soon!

  • theselector is so right. How often does a band come around that is equal parts The Who, Replacements, and The Kinks, and done right. I saw You Am I in Los Angeles once it was as good as can be imagined. Not to mention that the between song patter was as funny as anyone I've ever seen. He basically told the guys in the audience that there was a good chance he would be taking thier girlfriends home at the end of the evening. And it was loud, like it should be!

  • To be fair i think part of the appeal that these guys have is in their attitude and what they represent. Pop stardom was probablly not on top of the list... that is just one more thing that should be truly respected.

  • @drdognutz Probably not in the typical "corporate" sense of Lady Gaga or Idol contestants but I still think they wanted to be popular. Every band does otherwise what's the point? In their prime they toured with Oasis in Japan and the Gallagher Bros were blown away by their talent. It's true they had a certain attitude and an independent almost irreverent spirit about them but that's just Rock n Roll.

  • goosebumps.

  • You am I could've and should've been HUGE worldwide. Unfortunately Pop stardom is made up of many other variables other than just pure talent , which these guys had a TONNE of. They certainly had the tunes , the image and could play live BUT I think the promotion & marketing side let them down as probably their Management did. They should've given them much more media exposure & created more interest & excitement around the band. You can create great music but what's the point if no one knows..

  • @theselector You're on the money mate! I grew up with these guys in the 90's. I remember the first time I saw Powderfinger was when they supported You Am I on national tour. You Am I gave many bands over the years a leg up into the scene! They are highly respected by ay many artists!

  • @theselector as per comment, what i think anyway!

  • One the best aussie bands of all-time. Shame the media didn't feel the same =/

  • Australia is good for two things, You Am I and You Am I. Possibly the best rock band in the last 20 years.

  • You Am I are good for two things, You Am I and You Am I. Possibly the best rock band in the last 20 years.

  • Love this song!! Reminds me of my youth!

  • This was You Am I at their peak - had some fantastics songs up to this. Love this song and saw them live whenever I could in the mid to late 90s. This song is like Do You Know What I Mean to Oasis - both great songs, but both bands came to the end of their creative brilliance after these songs and I really struggle to think of a decent song released by either band after these songs.

  • @c921234 i reckon some of their best stuff came after this, tim rogers and the boys have kept producing quality albums (i include deliverance, it is underrated) songs such as rumble, heavy heart, damage, when you know what you want, it aint funny, piano up the tree to name a few, and the new album is shaping up as one of if not their best ever. I think for you am i the period from 94-6 was simply a case of right place at the right time, rather than an inablity to maintain writing quality songs

  • I used to play this song when I worked in KMART in the sound and vision section on every shift. Amazing song from a superb album.

  • This song sounds like its influenced by The Saints

  • @dmcguire70 Every good Australian band sounds like it's influenced by the Saints.

  • Undoubtably one of Australia's finest ever bands.

  • i can't bealeave that there is no one almost that know this band. they are really good!

  • utter brilliance. Tim Rogers always reminds me of Ray Davies (the Kinks) in being able to provide a capsule of urban life in a single song.

Now if those two ever wrote a song together :-)

  • wow, why so few views? One of the best songs from one of Australia's greatest rock albums!

  • Brilliant!

  • my favourite You Am I song!!

  • ahhhh i love you am i!
