100% amateurism at its worst. Whoever was allegedly "in charge" of this thing has no business running a track day.
I'm particularly shocked at the dipshit in the blue and white driver's suit, shooting the breeze with his back to traffic in an obviously unprotected area.
I wouldn't mind so much, except that when idiots like this smear themselves along the pavement it makes things harder for others who don't have their heads jammed up their asses.
WOW!!! I thought there was a wall off camera to the left, if you look below the steering wheel and above the dash of the camera car, guess it wasn't a wall...
2 things really bother me here:
1. Like some posters have stated, why in F!@# were they staging cars right there on the side of the track like that, no wall?
2. The guy gets out of his evo and, after creaming some poor guy, checks HIS car? Douche...I'd be straight over to the car I hit like "DUDE!!! YOU OK?!?!?!"
The biggest idiot is the guy standing outside the car. What a moron. And you and your brother need to wise up, you could have been killed. Next time refuse to wait in such a reckless spot.
Wow that was so the fault of the sanctioning body. Not the EVO driver (it's a racetrack people...even Aeyrton Senna came off track now and again). I'd honestly love to know who was held liable.
great reaction from the guy standing out front! So who has to pay for all that? I am sure the insurance company isn't going to pickup the tab for that EVO loser...
@shuanmlim I would have wanted to, but going off is racing and if the track officials hadnt moronically grid the cars there, the Evo wouldnt have had anything to hit.
Cars that close to the track should be cause for a red flag but there were cars and PEOPLE wandering around! Where was the safety talk? There is an accident and EVERYONE jumps out of their cars and cars are still driving by on the track? What an insane event.
It's because of shit like this that regular insurance won't cover an HPDE and the reason reasonable drivers have to pay insane fees to insure HPDE events.
wow whoever was running that show should b fired, and wow just god lucky nobody was killed when like a min. ago that kid was outside his car...that is ridiculous
Cant believe not just close to track but they allowed everyone to be outside their cars.. That one guy almost got killed luckly he reacted. Glad everyone ok and Hope everyone has insurance
Very Bad idea to place exposed pit in the path of hot track-with NOVICES. Instructors always emphasize to ride it out if you come off, this yahoo decides to in the EVO to pull it in. Looks like the EVO, the red E30 M3, and the red Audi were racing? WTF?
Other video shows IFLYSOLO in the Audi pull over to record his butty's car crash despite instructors telling him not to. These Yahoos should be banned from the track 4 life. Maybe they will die street racing, which will be one step forward in our Darwinian process.
Wow! I can NOT believe they had you guys stagged on what amounts to the track! And, that some of the drivers/instructors were standing around outside their cars while the traffic was flying by... big NO NO! Glad you and your brother got spared any damage and injury. And, too bad about the others that got major damage. BTW, the holy sh*t is exactly what I would have been saying if sitting where you were for that!
Arg the best colour NSX too, The Sebring Silver. Glad everybody are okey. Should not have happend though. My Sebring Silver is more rare now. But sad to see things like that. No not Sebring Silver maybe that other silver shade which I can not remember the name of
lesson learned at that driving school! that instructor should be put at fault for keeping those cars too close to the track because you have to expect somebody to lose control who is really cocky and think theyre a professional driver. truth is you cant always think ur the best at something when you really have no idea what it takes to be a professional
Wow, what an awful video. My heart really goes out to the NSX driver because those cars are pretty high up on the automotive endangered species list - especially in America. The worst part about it is unless the NSX driver had extra insurance, his only real option for restitution will come in the form of a lawsuit. And while I respect G35s (and Evos, when they aren't being driven by idiots), they are pretty much dime a dozen in the sports car world.
This the organizers fault. Period. Never ever assume you are in safe spot. There is no such thing. I was shocked seeing how they let the drivers out of the cars that close to the track. Very poorly run.
God, I'll bet the vast majority of you commenting on this video and where the staging was done even know the track. The staging for the east course for PDA and any other club was always here, on the hot pit. EVERYONE has decided, since this incident, that it makes more sense to stage elsewhere further away. The incident occured at a place where you would not normally lose control of your car and the guy driving the Evo was a total bonehead. I saw him on-track the day before and he was an idiot
PDA was talking about this accident when i did my first HPDE with them in 2006. the driver had put at least one wheel off track at least once before the accident that day. leading to the accident, he went off track, tried to be a hero, cranked the wheel too far, went back on track, got grip, and went right into grid. since then, PDA grids the east course by the building across the road. the course entrance is still right there, but no cars sit there; only some workers.
The driver of the Evo IS the guy kneeling on the ground. Not sure why the organizers pit us so close to the active raceway. That's why the driver of the NSX got out of the car. We talked afterwards and he was worried about being strapped into his car there. Good this he's fast on his feet!
Seriously, there is another in car video from someone chasing the evo... Minor mistake on his part but the staged cars are RIGHT on the side of the track with no barrier at all, on one of the corners of the track.
There's a novice who won't be back for another track day! I hope they never stage like that again, next to track, no wall, people standing around?? Lucky nobody was killed.
and after the accident, ppl jumping out of their cars AND without even turning it OFF first!?!
I've been taught to: Stay IN the car (where it's safest) unless it's burning... who knows if/when another car might missed the yellow flag and come slamming into the area.
@70machwon Damn dude! Some people just go way to out better off to start slow or in a less powerful car ehy? Man I bet that was just unreal you watching.
@Roadrash1991 Did you read the description? The Evo driver panicked when he got 2 wheels off and tried to steer back on. That can happen in any car and it's the wrong way to handle that situation. When you get 2 wheels off, you let it go off. period.
All I can say is.....NO MO EVO.

The whole thing looks terrifying long before the crash ever happened. And, how does he pay for this? The insurance doesn't count on a race-course.

Quick question... What car did the driver kneeling on the ground in the end pictures belong to? The Evo?
And also, why would the organizers set the next session cars pretty much on the goddamn track?

This has nothing to do with the Evo driver. People come to HPDEs to learn in a safe manner and spinning out is just a part of the learning curve.
It's completely the organizer's fault and nobody else.
