no one could or can makes the guitar speakin' like Page.. especially the heavy doubleneck. It's mpressive. And this happened in '70 without modern supports and effects. I have no word to describe.
how many strings did he break onstage in his time? i know he did here and he cut his hand on the last night of knebworth due to a string breaking during achilles last stand, but thats all I know of
Yup, he breaks his B string, anyone that denies this fact either doesnt play guitar to know that he needed to shift down an octave, or you havent inspected the DVD version where as a few others have correctly stated, is hanging down. It was pure logic for jimmy, being a virtuoso, and knowing the fret board, and pure genius to us meer mortals!! Long live the zep!!
Also, in the DVD version they put some footage of the solo from the other night into it. Like at the end on the DVD version when it switches to Page playing the Chords, that is from the other night.
in the dvd there is an overdub that makes the end of the solo in the right octave, i always wondered, how did jimmy get those notes that far down on the neck, now i know.
this is so fucking sweet. the solo at the end when the b string breaks and he has to play it down an octave. you don't get to hear that on the dvd. it's all fixed. this is awsome man. :) i need the dvd to this whole concert.
so cool i get to here the real version. I know this isn't a fuckup or anything but i love seeing their good versions AND the bad. That's why they should release all of it
Dude, if he didn't break a string, then why the hell would he play the last part an octave lower? And besides, you can clearly see the string hanging out on the DVD (not so much here)
Looks and sounds to me @ 2:50 he is bending and teasing that B string and then he moves his hand off real quickly.........WOW....explains alot
