No, it does not have a big engine BECAUSE it's a diesel (Well, actually, it is a heavier engine because it's a diesel), it has a big engine because it needs a powerful engine. But american cars have often had bigger engines than the european or japanese ones and still no more power. That's just how it is.
@tgseason12 Are you being serious? A bigger engine means more power, that's pure common sense. Try pulling a pallet of sod or a big ass boat loaded with bitches in those little 50hp Toyota trucks they drive all over Europe and Japan. It won't even budge, my friend. Everything is bigger in America, and we have trucks like this Chevy with shit tons of fucking torque to get our big stuff where it needs to go.
I agree, but you did say that it has a big engine because it's a diesel (implying that a diesel engine has to be big, which is not true). Furthermore, a bigger engine doesn't necessarily mean mean more power, a turbocharger can give a smaller engine the power of a bigger one.
Sure, this car has a big engine because it needs it, but in general, it's just because how it has always been done.
@tgseason12 No, I wasn't saying that about the engine size, I was saying that about the 500 horsepower thing he was saying. And why use a turbocharger on a tiny engine, when you can have a big ass engine AND turbocharger on it? They don't use a big engine solely because it's how it's always been done, they do it because that's how it's SUPPOSED to be done.
@tgseason12 Well I mean for what this truck is meant to do, torque is way more important. As for how it's supposed to be done... I know for a fact that Mitsubishi uses 6 and 8 cylinders in their Fuso busses and commercial trucks. So I guess it's a popular design worldwide also. But it will be a little different since those countries don't have a market for full size trucks like here in America.
@TheKoreanX Yup, we agreed for the beginning. I just misunderstood what question you were referring to. American cars in general (I'm talking about in the past, mainly) american cars have had bigger engines.
@tgseason12 Oh I see. Yeah, America always had those good ol' big block engines until gas started getting super expensive lol I remember when that shit was like 99 goddamn cents a gallon back in the early 2000's. Now I'm dropping $40 just fill up my little 2.7L V6 Hyundai Tiburon
@TheSCR1899 Because we want fucking shit tons of torque, max horsepower doesn't mean jack when you're carrying a pallet of sod or a big ass boat loaded with beer. Plus, it's a diesel engine, so it's designed for huge amounts of torque. It's not tradition or any other shit like that.
i have a gasser version of this truck exactly pretty much. it's worth correcting you about the 'optional' allison tranny, it wasn't optional. gas (6.0s) got the 4L80E and duramaxes got the allison.
Another Awesome Video Kyle, Starting off, Between the 2002 model Silverado 2500, Ram 2500 and F-250....What are youre honest oppinions? Power, interior, sound and comfort? I am a chevy fan through and through just havent driven a duramax. Too badd it doesnt have the much more powerfull LB7 Duramax from 2006 model year. Thanks.
@MrChevyman95 I more of a ford guy, I like the ford f-250 better. It is more stylish........ opposed to that the powerstroke comparable to this one, the 7.3 p-stroke has/had way more power than a duramax....... I've always had ford and will continue to.
@MrChevyman95 this has the lb7.... lb7 was the first then in 04.5 came the lly. In 06 they switched to a different lly that basically was the same as the lbz just lower power. The lbz came in 06.5. After that was the LMM and now the LML
@89NAYG they've been saying that for a while now, i first saw it in the suburban 2500hd z71 diesel concept. i really wish they'd go back to diesels in the half tons. Thanks man, yea i always get my gen's messed up.
@MrRichierich1990 hes gotta be wrong, ive seen so many vehicles do that, its because the oil pump is engine driven so as rpms go up the pressure goes up
@whatthehallbetch He is *kind of* right. On a lot of engines, the location of the oil pressure sending unit is such that if the engine sludge up and plugs the pick up for oil it will peg the oil pressure gauge at the max. A cold engine is going to have higher oil pressure anyway.
@whatthehallbetch If you hook up a mechanical gauge up to it, you'll notice the gauge in the dash stays the same whereas the mechanical gauge will go up and down.
Not sure why they included a gauge if it's not functional. If I remember right, there were a few reflashes for the last Jeeps to have them (Grand Cherokees, Wranglers and Cherokees with the 4.0) that turned the oil pressure gauge into a fake one too!
@Righty736 i guess its to put people into a false sense of security, or so the masses dont get worried about that scary gauge going up and down. but whatever the reason, its just plain stupid
I love this generation, The GMT800 with LB7 Duramax is probably my favorite Diesel/Truck combination of all time for a pick up. I don't like the newer styles personally and these LB7s are powerhouses. You can get 900whtq and over 400rwhp easily with simple bolt on upgrades and a tuner. Amazing power.
The 00-02 silverado interiors are way better than the 03-present, its almost as if GM is going backwards in terms of interior comfort and appeal.

Those taillight covers look kindof goofy imo haha but sweet truck overall

i have a gasser version of this truck exactly pretty much. it's worth correcting you about the 'optional' allison tranny, it wasn't optional. gas (6.0s) got the 4L80E and duramaxes got the allison.

Thanks.
MrChevyman95 9 months ago 11
@MrChevyman95 I more of a ford guy, I like the ford f-250 better. It is more stylish........ opposed to that the powerstroke comparable to this one, the 7.3 p-stroke has/had way more power than a duramax....... I've always had ford and will continue to.
kendrickevans301 6 months ago
@MrChevyman95 this has the lb7.... lb7 was the first then in 04.5 came the lly. In 06 they switched to a different lly that basically was the same as the lbz just lower power. The lbz came in 06.5. After that was the LMM and now the LML

@Hemihappy Thanks for the clarification. I always fuck that up.

@89NAYG they've been saying that for a while now, i first saw it in the suburban 2500hd z71 diesel concept. i really wish they'd go back to diesels in the half tons. Thanks man, yea i always get my gen's messed up.
MrChevyman95 4 months ago
@89NAYG the 4.5L was put on indefinite hold while gm was going through bankruptcy... i havent seen anything about it for a long time

my mechanic says when the oil pressure gague goes to full when u rev it, it has severe engine oil leakage. just an fyi. my buick engine died of this.
MrRichierich1990 9 months ago
@MrRichierich1990 Its a diesel
deeman52586 9 months ago
@deeman52586 ... and what does being a Diesel have to do with oil leakage?
ratmtbola 9 months ago
@ratmtbola its what diesels do
NICKLADD 9 months ago
@NICKLADD No they don't, I own a Diesel myself ...
ratmtbola 9 months ago
@ratmtbola maybe yours is the broken one
NICKLADD 9 months ago
@NICKLADD What the hell are you talking about? Doesn't seem like you have any idea about Diesels.
ratmtbola 9 months ago
@MrRichierich1990 hes gotta be wrong, ive seen so many vehicles do that, its because the oil pump is engine driven so as rpms go up the pressure goes up
whatthehallbetch 9 months ago
@whatthehallbetch He is *kind of* right. On a lot of engines, the location of the oil pressure sending unit is such that if the engine sludge up and plugs the pick up for oil it will peg the oil pressure gauge at the max. A cold engine is going to have higher oil pressure anyway.
Righty736 9 months ago
@Righty736 well exactly. although the oil pressure gauge on my 5.0 mustang doesnt move with the rpms
whatthehallbetch 9 months ago
@whatthehallbetch Most fords since the late 80s have had "fake" oil pressure gauges.
Righty736 9 months ago
@Righty736 makes sense, even when my rusted out oil pan let all the oil leak out while i was driving, the gauge still said i had pressure
whatthehallbetch 9 months ago
@whatthehallbetch If you hook up a mechanical gauge up to it, you'll notice the gauge in the dash stays the same whereas the mechanical gauge will go up and down.
Not sure why they included a gauge if it's not functional. If I remember right, there were a few reflashes for the last Jeeps to have them (Grand Cherokees, Wranglers and Cherokees with the 4.0) that turned the oil pressure gauge into a fake one too!
Righty736 9 months ago
@Righty736 i guess its to put people into a false sense of security, or so the masses dont get worried about that scary gauge going up and down. but whatever the reason, its just plain stupid

I love this generation, The GMT800 with LB7 Duramax is probably my favorite Diesel/Truck combination of all time for a pick up. I don't like the newer styles personally and these LB7s are powerhouses. You can get 900whtq and over 400rwhp easily with simple bolt on upgrades and a tuner. Amazing power.
