Wow, a Columbia University who doesn't even reccommend getting an accurate diagnosis with good old fashioned EMG (electromylography). Don't start buying mouthguards and splints (let alone cosmetic dentistry) until you either diagnose or rule out TMD with EMG.
You can rent an ipod sized unit, FDA approved, from a dentist, to know what you have before you start investing in treatments. I loved the Grindcare EMG, since it has CES to stop TMD if you have been diagnosed. Google Grindcare USA.
Im surprised that this guy didnt even mention Magnesium.... Take some magnesium (not magnesium oxide) before bed and your muscles will relax so that you dont grind them....im a nutrionist by the way.
My mother said i've did it since i was a baby while i sleep. And i only do it while awake if im mad.

@mohsinuk2000 Do you buy it in drugstores or is it ok to take some food with magnesium?

@Getwildeguys Best to get it in food but it if you want to take supplements then buy a good quality magnesium citrate not magnesium oxide.
