Heikki could be the new Barrichello, has pace, race winner, great guy, but lacks the edge that the Hamiltons,Buttons and Alonsos have. He was never really going to beat Lewis in his own team, but he seems refreshed at Lotus and is really driving them on, hopefully he can become a race winner again.

Heikki will get his chance again. He was unlucky at mclaren to come up against someone so fast and so headstrong as lewis, but he did prove on occasion to have excellent pace. If lotus can get themselves to be a frontrunning team in the next few years - which given how far theyve already progressed is not impossible - heikki might have the chance to challenge for wins in a team he has built around himself. I think then we'd see his true potential. Finnish drivers always do well in F1 eventually.

I think I know Heikki a little bit because we´re coming from the same town in Finland...and I wish Mclaren should have given them equailly (Lewis and Heikki)the same opportunity to show off their best skills without new parts fitted only to a

one car(Lewisis`). They should always give the boys the same tools for driving F1! Cheers, kimo

They do give both drivers the same cars, the same opportunities and the same upgrades. In 2 of the last 3 races both drivers have had all the upgrades and @ Spa both chassis options.

But as is the case with many teams, there simply isnt the time to manufacturer the parts, as we saw at valencia, Mclaren only had 1 new front wing which ended up getting damaged in free practice. As there is no in season testing now, the only way teams can see if the upgrades work is running them 1 car at a time.

And how many teams on the grid make 2 different cars for 2 different drivers? NONE, its up to the driver to make the car work, and to get the best out of what is available. Each team usually has 1 driver who is better at developing the car, so generally the team will use that driver to push the team forward.

Sadly time and time again we have seen Heikki fail to do that, even tho he's had every opportunity to prove himself, even as far back as Monza 08.

I think ur forgetting that the Mclaren didnt suit anyones driving style, it was such a dog of a car it was 3.5seconds per lap off the pace during winter testing and had a downforce imbalance aswell as the KERS rear biasing brake issue. Even at the end of the season, the car was still way down on downforce when compared to Brawn & Redbull. Hamilton has already proved his worth in car development when he was racing in F3euroseries, so its logical Mclaren would use Lewis more than Heikki.

Nope, ur missing the point completely. Teams dont have the time, the means, or the resources available to develop 2 different cars mid-season, any driver worth his money will make the most of the equipment avalable to him. People were saying the same thing about Ferrari last year, that they made a car to suit Massa but not Kimi. Its utter rubish, the fact is Massa simply got the best out of the car, just like Lewis did this year.

No, they made it better BECAUSE of Hamiltons input and feedback, and because of the endless work my Mclarens engineers. There were no testdrivers to help with testing after it was banned, and if Hamilton got every last bit out of that car its because of his extraordinary talent, and not because of some misguided favouritism.

Heikki is a great driver, and, even tho i'm british, I am sad to see him leave Mclaren and replaced by Button...... Kimi & Lewis would have been a far better combination!

i think that the better driver always ends up getting more attention and hence the better car, it's been like this with past champs such as Schumy and Senna, why would it be different in this case? I dont think it's fair but it's usually how the team gets to win the driver's championship, only then they start thinking about the constructor's championship.
