Yes michelle akers. In the world of womens soccer the whole sport doesnt get enough credit. It has come along way the teams are very good now. People seem to have forgot how amazing michelle was. She was amazing. Mia Hamm seems to get more credit than michelle even though she was only half the player michelle akers was. I think mia had more goals but that doesnt mean anything

For WOMAN's soccer she was the first and biggest dominant force for the game. Nobody brought a level of play to the field like she did when she played. If we look at players of today like Marta and such...Marta is obviously the best player in the modern game as of now, but she is not the dominant force like Akers was. Nobody came close to Michelle Akers.

@caravaggio31 yea but that is only because Michelle Akers isn't playing anymore... and when she was playing the game your Martha wasn't even in the top ten dude.. so don't compare apples to oranges.. and this is according to the INTERNATIONAL LEADING GOALS records... and even still the USA is in the top 5 - number 3 to be exact so while martha managed not even to make it in the top 10 back then - our country has accomplished that EVERY YEAR. I am very suprised no one has said anything about what a farce this is..Please check the fifa rules on penalty kicks and you will notice the u.s keeper advances off her line on every one.the result would be a warning then a yellow and ultimately a sending off this is a disgrace u.s did not win

She was in my book The Games That Rate, a tribute to the 1999 Women's World Cup champions. Akers remains the greatest women's soccer player ever and the real reason so many fans gravitated to the USWNT. She made them win. I could go on but I think you understand.
