It wasn't stupid at all - Parkpop is the same date every year. It were the quarter finals of the World Cup that night, no one knew only a few days beforehand who would play. Coincidently Holland played the same night as Parkpop, however to avoid a bit clash all acts were even rescheduled to earlier times. Melanie C and Di-rect, the 2 closing acts on the 2 stages, both finished about half an hour before kick off.
