I have driven this route many times in a 4-wheeler. It's beautiful and most of the truckers are very courteous and professional. They always pull over to the shoulder on the steep grades. Going down the other side they want to build up speed so I speed up and give them lots of room so they don't have to worry about passing me.
I remember when Highway 17 was first open. There were no telephone wires, no gas stations, and no trucks, because everything got sent from Sault Ste. Marie by float planes
nice clip, great scenery, I've noticed that black Kenworth W900 you were passing had three axles on the trailer, that's not usual for that part of a world, is it?
GOD BLESS NORTHERN ONTARIO I LOVE IT! TRAVELLED THAT HIGHWAY 17 SO MANY TIMES EVEN THOUGH IM IN THE SOUTH NOW MY HEART WILL ALWAYS BE IN THE NORTH THE TRUE BEST PARTS OF oNTARIO!
The great lakes are well, great. I was living on Lake Ontario when the Edmund Fitzgearld went down on Superior and it caused quite a stir locally. What many people don't realize is that the lakes have more violent weather than even the ocean.
