  • Nice it looks very good and sounds better!

  • mó bosta

  • mó bosta

  • what did the turbo come out of?

  • Is the turbo junk yard or the 1600? Any close up photos of the set up I want one for my Baja bug

  • love the wizz sound of a beetle when the rev's drop

  • If you get a chance, do a search "knot rod". My dad just put this together, don't know how fast it really is cuz he's still tuning and getting it dialed in but it should be pretty quick.

  • that looks nice,.like it was factory, good job!

  • i need info on how to build it

  • did you buy or make yourself the exhaust manfifold??? if you made it was it easy???

i would love to turbo my vw.

  • where did u get the oil line fromm

  • what kind of cars is on ur bug?

  • perfect sleeper

  • Yeah !! Cute looking classics with allot of Horsepowers are awesome.

    Maybe one day i build my self a suicidal car. Like a " B Kadett " with a 2.0 16V or something =)

  • Cool. Quite the sleeper, when I saw it at Das Volks, I never would have guessed at what was under the decklid!

  • i have a 65 vw i was wondering if i could turbo my 1600cc and where do i get the instructions to do a turbo on my 1600cc.

  • please commit back when you instale the t3 can you still close the engin cover

  • With decklid standoffs, yes the hood does fit, check my other clips.

  • where do u get tubos for vw

  • is that SU carbs i see?

  • might even fit under the stock bonnet too nice

  • Do you have numbers for this car?

  • Numbers as in ET's? 15.249@90.84mph

with the configuration in the video, car weight was 2100lbs.

best however with a Engle w110, 15psi of boost, and weight lowered to 1930 lbs last October, was 14.205@97.16mph

  • lol cute

  • That is awesome man. Good job

  • Been searching the internet for something like this for a while. I've been thinking it's not to difficult to build my own turbo set up like you did. Was there anything that was really challenging besides fabbing a manifold/exaust, intake and running oil lines.

  • whats the difference between open and closed exhaust? i'm a beginner...

  • are you the same guy who dose the 1600 turbo launches?

  • lol buzzboy

  • Is that just a merged header with an up-pipe? At what kind of RPM do you have to hit to make good boost? I just moved up to an Engle 110 and a counter balanced crank and I am working on a similar setup to yours. I love the engine NA but I have had the lifelong dream to be able to pass people. lol

  • What is the PSI on the fuel pump? Won't it run a risk of running lean at turbo since draw amybe more than the carb could output, especially at higher RPMs? I am really interested.

  • My fuel pressure is set to 2-3 psi at idle, Airflow will draw as much fuel as the jet and needle allow, the only other thing one has to worry about is keeping the float bowl full, to do this I increase fuel pressure under boost, but that does not provide a boost enrichment. A larger float needle valve, or a grose-jet is a good idea too.

  • So what electronic fuel pump are you using to boost the fuel pressure @ boost, how much fuel psi @ boost, and how much turbo boost? What is the wastegate/bof set @? Thanks, you da man!

  • Fuel pump is a standard Holley Blue Electric. no electronics involved, I've just run a boost line to a modified, for rising rate, Holley pressure regulator. I'm afraid I can't tell you what my pressure is under boost, but it can't go higher than 14psi, cause thats all that pump will put out, with the standard relief valve spring. I can set my wastegate from 7-15+ psi with a bleed valve in the wastegate line. BOF? do you mean BOV, I don't need one because I have a "drawthrough" set-up.

  • About to start my own VW turbo project and I just found these SU carbs. Brilliant. Killer ride.

  • that car sounds kak man

  • The car looks very well, and sounds nice!

  • The carb wouldn't be off a Mini, it will have come off an MG Metro Turbo (Uses an A+ Series engine like the Mini's A Series), which is a 'sealed' carb. And yes, the Metro Turbo 1.3 did indeed come with a T3 over here too! It made for around a 30BHP increase giving it 98BHP from 60-73BHP depending on which engine you had to start with.

  • Nope, this carb was never on anything turbocharged, also I believe the MG was a blow-through arrangement, I am using a standard HIF-6, in a draw-through arangement. The carb is not pressurized.

  • MG was a sealed arrangement ;). Different to your normal run of the mill HIF44.

  • looks a little oversize...must take a bit to spool up

  • Nice! What turbo you running? Also, what is the SU carb off?

  • The turbo is off an 1985 Chrysler Lebaron, with the 2.2L "Turbo I" engine, this particular SU carb I was told is off a mid 80's Mini Cooper with a 1.3L. But many other Euro cars came with them, I happened to get a second spare carb off an 1981 Volvo.
