31T motor pinion, 76T spur gear.

Yes, that will make your motor run a lot hotter. It puts more strain on the motor at lower speeds and puts a lot of strain on it to be spinning such a high-tooth setup at high speeds.

do you usually stop it after a few speed runs to let the motor cool down

Yeah, whenever it would become too hot to the touch I would let it cool (around 120-125*F is when you get that feeling).

wow i am running a 3s lipo from maxamps and my motor was around 170 degrees And i blew my rotor, but i don't understand i was running stock gearing, i may have to gear it down a little what do you think?

What do you mean? I have a SuperBrain 989 (literally worth its weight in gold, best thing I've ever boughten). I'm tired of the LiPo scene...you can always get a nice NiMh pack without the worrisome effort.

Well, some people use those cheap $10 chargers (dunno, just put a really low amount lol) and expect it to do great lengths. Not saying you are... Therefore, their packs are greatly messed up by cheap chargers (again, not you.)

Yeah, NiMH's are really great. LiPos worry people way to much.

The picture in the beginning was only put up because my LiPo died overnight and a replacement 9-cell NiMh is coming in the mail.

I used a crappy 8-cell pack for the most of the video, but the wheelies were from when the LiPo worked (MaxAmps 2S 4000mAh LiPo).

Awesome! I was thinking of selling my MLST2(which I probably will anyway) and either getting a VXL or an XL5, depends on the price though. Also most likely the Stampede to be the brother of my Nitro Pede.

Stampede VXL is a little dumb for a monster truck; personally, the Stampede was fantastic fun while it lasted.

Try this (an idea):

Put Deans or TRX connectors to your motor, and swap between the stock 12T Titan and a Matrix 55T.
