  • Or go really fast and do the Debian net-install with only what you wish to install and it runs gnome as default (KDE ) also available!!!

  • switch to Xfce! Its blue! Its fast! Same functionality of Gnome

  • hey man nice video for the themes all you have to do is download a new theme i will send you several links if you want it them just drag it right in to the themes

  • You can change the background... and EVERYTHING ELSE!

  • good thing that shield was there in front of the mic... it looks like you were gonna eat it

  • good prev dude.

    keep it up please.

    thank u so much.

  • Awesome! The new version is great. Good job!

  • I listened to the podcast and watched this version later. TBH you don't miss much just by listening to the podcast - there's only a few screenshots.

Still - it's LAS so you know it's good!

  • I connected via an UM150 EVDO Card with no problem, it just showed up in my Network Manager and connected with one click. Good video, awesome release.

  • When I check on the Ubuntu website about upgrading I read the release notes, and it said that Intrebid Ibex doesn't support Nvidia TNT, TNT2, TNT Ultra, GeForce, GeForce2, GeForce3, and GeForce4. It goes onto say that it does not support 3-D acceleration. Is there anyway around this?

  • This is because there is a new X server and at the time NVIDIA had only released drivers for the newer cards such as 177.x series drivers and the nvidia-legacy package hadn't been updated (this is why opensource drivers are better than binary).

Just yesterday I read NVIDIA has released BETA drivers for the legacy cards, I think they are version 96 series drivers, but you may want to wait till the final release.

  • thanks

  • You could drop the background music in my opinion.

  • It's still looking very ugly. Also I personally am a KDE kind of guy. OPENSuse and Mandriva are still my preferred distros.

  • I tried Kubuntu for a while, but I was having some issues with it. For example, the file manager; I would attempt to move a file around in a removable drive, and it would tell me that there is a file in that folder with the same name that would be overwritten, and there wasn't. But I hear the KDE version of Ubuntu doesn't get as much polish as the Gnome version. Plus, it is all personal preference.

  • Yes OpenSUSE and Mandriva have a much more polished KDE experience. KDE 4.1 and especially KDE 4.2 are much more usable.

In my opinion Ubuntu is to Mac Xish. I HATE APPLE :) I don't mind M$ too much. (Weird for a Linux Guy)

  • Downloading now! :D

  • Yep, as Bryan pointed out, this one looks more like what a long-term release should be.

  • Great review! You've earned my subscription.

  • of course its a great review! its the Linux Action Show!
