@Kagaines I was surprised too (I just filmed it, it's Skip's truck). I'm guessing the tires weren't great. Or Skip wasn't getting torque cuz he was in too high a gear.
@Kalkas53 Ahh, wiring and rust. I had to get rid of a beautiful late 60's Volvo 4-door, looked like an old Rolls-Royce, cuz the brake lines and wiring were just too far gone. Let a refurbisher have it for a song.
my father used to have a 70's power wagon in hemi orange with wood bed and cherry bomb mufflers it was a true farm truck. it was loud and made it sound like you were doing 60 but only going 35. my mom got pulled over by the cop once but thankfully didn't get a ticket. it didn't have much power though since my dad bought it used from some idiot who did all sorts of stupid crap to it. seeing how it's role was a farm truck was not worth the money to fix it completely
it may backfire, and stutter alot, but thats one damn cool old truck, I'd build the hell outta that thing, drop in a nice v8 and drive it tell the wheels fell off, great truck, probably not very friendly to drive, but it sure looks cool.
What a great video! Great editing! Great quality! Great history which included 3 generations of family fun! This is what YOUTUBE videos should be like. Take notes everyone else.
@rogermccord Narrow tires work good in snow and wide tires work better in sand, where the flotation effect helps. Neat old truck, especially since it was your grandpaps.
In the snow, the thin tires are the way to go for sure, but only if you add some weight in the bed of the truck, something that won't bounce around. We always just used snow, then iced it down with the hose. Plowed snow for years with power wagons.
That's quite a Maine accent you've got there. Do they all talk like that down there in Gorham?
What was that truck used for when your grandfather had it? It would make a hell of a jitterbug. That's what most of those old 1-1/2 ton trucks ended up being used for. My father had one when I was a kid that he used as a jitterbug, built by White Company with similar 1940s styling (not a 4WD though).
Nice rig bud, take good care of it and give it some paint so the salt doesn't get to it! If you take care of it that thing will last forever! Enter it over in the Sebago Days parade next year and I'll come say hi!
i fucking love your truck...im in the process of buying a 1941 1/2 dodge truck also military,,,it ran a couple years ago...flat 6 cyl.......i love your flamethrowers lol
Wow! Your Grandfather must have been quite a guy! It looks like a Bantam pickup on steroids! Undoubtedly one of the trickest conversions I've seen. Love those tractor rims and wheels!
@Concretehead01 : Just watched your off road vid ... shouldn't it be called off-road boating? Way too serious for me ... recommend life jackets next time. Party on.

@dave97202 Yo, from what I hear, from tire guys, is that thinner tires cut thru better...wide tires just tend to ride up on the snow. yes / no?
