Everybody knows about Karaoke nights, but have you tried to find any open mic nights?

They are good for meeting other musicians and singers. You can start by going along a few times and watching. Then get to know the regular performers.

The benefits of this are that you might be able to join in. Also, because they are performers, there's a good chance that they will know about other local musical people and events.

Network with people. You'll be surprised how much is going on.

It's an effect called "Reverb". The sound card software has some effects that you can turn on and off. Well most of them do.

It's called a "Pop filter".

I made it out of a stocking and a coat hanger, but you can buy them in music stores.

It stops things like the "P" sound or blowy words from distorting on the mic.

When singing do you find it difficult to hit that high pitch ? I am a fan of Neil and notice that on a lot of your songs you don't go as high as he does; but overall you do an excellent job...keep up the good work. Thank you Lee-Anne. I used to be a very good singer as a child, and then I sort of stopped when my voice broke for several years. The desire to sing was too strong though, and I still do it at every opportunity. The love affair with singing never really goes away :)
