...before MIDI, before digital, crap--- I don't even think John had a roadie. Martyn was WAY ahead of his time. Drake usually gets the kudos but John was yer man.
@slowuncle JM often had a roadie called Kennie he offered to sell me a Mutron 3 envelope follower I had been searching for. He was a nice guy and life couldnt have been easy for him when JM had one on him! Bless
Wow! hearing this again, it sent chills right down to boots, fabulous raw cords with a unique style, he's a treasure lost forever, BUT, thanks to "TheGuitarMan" and our digital-age we can hang on to Jems like this, CHEERS!
I was a dj at my college in Baltimore in mid 77, used to play this tune before going out with buddies. played as much JM, Nick Drake and King Crimson as they would let me on a jazz show.
I think it is in CFCCGD tuning on his Guild D55NT, through a Maestro Bommerang Wah/Vol pedal, MXR Phase 90, EH Big Muff, Mutron Envelope follower, then to the Echoplex and the MM amp and cab. De Armond sound hole pickup and barcus berry (type) peizo pick up behind the bridge to a Di box and seperately to the amp, lots of gaffa tape and new Dunlop Green Flash trainers (in the 70's we called these plimsoles!). Many thanks for posting this classic concert which I had the luck to attend.
I have looked up also the 'JMartyn-Live at the BBC' DVD -deduced now it must be that DVD with the contents 'rock goes to college' .
Also just now found Amazon does a 'region all' version -previously I could only find region 2 on searches (UK). Looks promising for a purchase by me now. Cheers.
np man. pleasure to help. i only heard about JM about 6 months from BBC4 jsut flicking through channels. Couldnt love you more was on. My fav on all his songs.
