Man, you Turks get really defensive about this movie, don't you ? I came here to listen to this song and I find a damn internet riot. Leaving all other pros and cons aside, don't you think that it's a little strange that this movie provoked so much hysteria in Turkey and to Turks in general? @Turkish2023 Yes,it is based on a real/true story. Some things WERE changed in the movie though;in the book,Billy and Eric have "love scene";in the book,Billy rejects him. After the movie was issued,The real Billy Hayes said he was'nt happy with the way the Turks were portayed/sterio typed.

Having met Billy Hayes, the subject of the book and the fim adaptation, I can attest that he is indeed real. BUT Hayes himself totally agreed with your sentiments, in that he felt the one-dimensional, "all-bad," portrayal of Turks and Turkey in the film to be so wrong that he traveled there to express his regret over the film version.

All actors are great are only turks do not like this movie. ALLAN PARKER has done a very great movie
