  • This wasn't Superman Returns it was Superman Lifts. Watch it - it's all he does throughout the whole film: cars, globes, Kryptonite land masses and boats!

  • I think of Titanic when i see this :(

  • So f.u.c.k.i.n.g, god d.a.m.n AWESOME!

  • should've done this with the titanic.

  • @spectre0075 Yeah. Kind of like he has to be gentle and not stop the plane or that sign full force for risk of shattering them into pieces.

  • I might be the only Person who sees it like this but Routh's Body frame has the same kinda flow and movement of the Curt Swan Superman, while being as Delicate and as homegrown as Reeves.

  • This superman movie had its moments, the change scene in the elevator, his boots hear landing on the portal, some of the most iconic shots for a superman movie.

Brandon was not given much dialog, i think he really only says about 5 sentences in the whole movie, hard to feel for him. Not enough action either and Lois Lane (kate) didn't do anything in the movie. No good villian for superman, it was almost like a remake of the first movie.

  • Not to be a mood-spoiler but I've watched many of the "Superman" movies and TV shows ei. Lois and Clark. And don't get me wrong I enjoy them all. But anytime Superman is even close to kryptonite his powers are very deminished. The whole area around him is basically one big kryptonite landmass. He should barely be standing let alone lifting a 20 ton ship. Then he lifts this thing and hurls it into space. Seemed like he got much stronger compared to the other shows and movies.

  • @MrDreamdweller thts called a plot hole or maybe because the shit under water it doesnt work as well. the lifting into space thing is called "lets show them how awesome superman realy is", its like the only time ever tht a live action superman has showed up tht. usually he pretty much just the invincible guy whos bullet proof. this time he freaking dies saving metropolis. plus it makes more sens in this tht the krptonite would weaken him but not make him fall to the ground in agony.

  • How does he lift a boat weighing hundreds of tons that's also filled with water just by some little steel beam?

  • @LDKBBAB Tactile Telekinesis.

  • The door that Superman ripped off it still attached when the boat is falling back into the water.

  • @mairj023 Different door!

  • @mairj023 look slightly to the left of that door that you're talking about...

  • the shit i aint like bout this movie was that they always had superman look like he was straininq ...

  • @akilddddd That's a good thing, surely? I'd rather see Superman working to get the job done that doing it smiling and waving.

  • @akilddddd it called injecting humanity. the reaosn ppl hate the guy is cos he always gets shit done so easy, its annoying when hes flying around saving people while smiling at the camera. its basically like hey check me out im way better than you all the time.

  • can't wait for the new one. but this one had it's moments like this part.

  • Fav scene in the movie. Would have rather seen a sequel to this with Routh than a reshit.

  • @videozfann, agreed.

  • I would of liked too of seen Roth play Superman again. The movie was ok, but it needed a better storyline. The movie was boring in spots and needed the tempo sped up between the non Superman scenes. Roth was great has Superman, but Christopher Reeve owned Clark Kent.

  • I have seen a lot of superman movies and series, and i have to admit routh isss just the best of them all. he plays the role sooo well, as clark kent he plays an uptight nerdy mild mannerrd guy (thats how clark is supposed to be) in such an amazing way. and as superman he plays the complete oposite. i mean if i was a person in the film i woudnt even be able to tell if clark was superman. brandon routh played the role sooo good he should be the one returning just a better story though.

  • Well it's official, Brandon Routh will not play Superman again. Warner Bros just announced Henry Cavill as the new Superman for the new movie in 2012. It would have been nice to see Routh play it again under a better story.

  • I still wonder why he had to lift the boat completely out of the water... 10' would've been fine ;-)

  • What the hell movie is this? That Superman returns crap?

  • @IHABC8 its a movie that your mother masturbates to :)

  • @GalacticKnight Is there any Routh hater? As far as i'm concern, i think it's the script and the director that the people keep on blaming, not Routh! In fact, i think, Routh is the biggest victim of the movie since he was the title role but Singer ruined it all! As for Kate Bosworth, well IMO, any Superman given to her wouldn't work, she's not Lois Lane, she's Lois LAME!

  • i don't care what anyone say, i thought brandon routh was great as superman but the movie kinda sucked

  • @juliope9 I love how all of the Routh haters never have any particular reason for hating him, they just hate him for the sake of hating him. Come on, give us some reasons and examples you hate him.

  • @juliope9 you are the worst critic, suck on that

  • Richard: cool were saved, lois, jason we are saved

Superman: we, whos we? i came here for the kid and the sexy girl cya bro

  • When his feet hit the window it's like all my hopes and dreams become focused in this one scene...I don't know how else to explain it...

  • @Strategy5659 It's that childhood love of having heroes. Someone who we can rely on. and have comfort. the music the scene this movie was amazing. it made me nostalgia so hard.

  • @Strategy5659 That's because Bryan Singer sucks you into the scene's setup completely as the trio sink into inescapable doom. With a haunting dirge to the music, Singer lets you feel the utter despair gripping the trio until the Man of Steel arrives to save the day as John Williams' thundering theme roars hope back in with a heroic power only the greatest of the superheroes can convey.

  • epic

  • @shanetones indeed

  • Not really a good choice for superman in the comics sups looks kind like a linebacker a little bit not a scrawny guy he should look super powerful. The whole plot and ending were incredibly stupid this could have been done so much better.

  • @JeremyGSU cuz hes a fucking showoff...lol

  • @RV8231978 Just to make it look really cool; like you said. im sure any sceptic would also have said "wow!"

  • it wouldve been funny if he told superman that there were still people inside the boat..Superman would have said "Oh my God"

  • @RV8231978 now THATwasnt funny

  • @cbachinger nice comeback...NOT!!!

  • @RV8231978 Superman would have checked the boat first.

  • Legendary moment for a legend character. Amazing

  • coolest part of the movie

  • That has to be one of my favorite shots in the history of movies...(when he lets go of the ship and it drops away from them and crashes in the ocean)..epic Superman!

  • did u see the look on richards face when clark dropped the boat at 1:00 he was like how did he hold that with one hand?!?! lol

  • When Superman returned from Krypton, he looked like a teenager version of himself, and he had no personality and he seemed, well, shorter. He almost did not return to Earth, afraid he wouldn't be recognized, but then the Star Wars prequels came out and he saw that Jar Jar had fans and he realized that humans were not yet discerning enough to care if he was Christopher Reeve or Michael Keaton or Whoopie Goldberg.

  • @prayfertrey Dude, seriously. You just SOUND like your saying that without reason. Give me concrete evidence, or your just bashing for the sake of bashing.

  • Surely that Little Beam of Steel wouldn't hold up a Boat that size?!?! o.0

  • @ZeonTec

According to the original superman, he possesses atleast a small amount of tactokinesis allowing him to channel the huge stress from the metal bar onto his own body!! :P

  • at 0:30 with his face lifting the boat plus the background music. makes my hair stand.

  • @battery311 that scene gives me goosebumps every time i see it.

  • Another great scene from this incredibly underrated flick. I still don't understand how so many people can love so many individual scenes yet claim the movie is crap.

    Singer and Routh deserved better!

  • @Stigmatainmypants

Because de scenes are strong and well done, but not the plot. Sorry for them. I'm a big fan of Superman and The best will always be Cristopher Reeve.

  • @mxremi routhh is better .

  • @akilddddd If he's better, why he was sacked of the sequel? He looks like a plastic Superman.

  • @mxremi they hatinq on a real niqqa . he did what he had to do and made a niqqa see Superman like he was supposed to be seen , Not like the God above but damn near close .

  • I'll never understand myself. Not only strong scenes, but an equally strong plot. And I cannot understand how some claim that they screwed up Superman when all, repeat ALL, of the evidence is to the contrary.

  • i'm right there with you

  • amen to that

  • @Stigmatainmypants I do agree with you. There's no denying that they got the heart of Superman's character down and scenes like this and several other just reinforce that.

Problem is the plot was basically just a rehash of the very first Superman movie and seemed more like a continuation of the original Superman films than Bryan Singer going his own way with it which is what people wanted from the first SM movie in decades

  • @Stigmatainmypants good comment.

  • Cool. Wonder who'll play the next man of steel...

  • me of course :D

  • why did he haft to lift it all the way out? why not just to the surface and then open the door?

  • He pulled the boat all the way out because of the turbulance of the water. Pulling the boat all the way out allowed him to stabalize it, and get Lois, Richard and Jason out safely. My theory is because it is easier for him to stabalize the boat in air (as it's less dense than water).

Plus, pulling the boat all the way out allows him to let some of the water drain out.

  • better safe than sorry

  • holy shit he had to drag the whole boat just to save those three! hell i would do the same if i were superman! best scene, perfect fitting music, just the best!!!

  • shh now shh

  • This film actually had pretty good action, but not enough. This, the plane rescue and the island lifted up were very good. Overall, a good enough film.

  • pah batman is human and he could have saved them!

simple case of flying over in the batwing and using the bat-crane to winch it out.

  • aquaman could have done that lol

  • Holy shit, what a great scene. That shot where Superman holds them while the ship drops away beneath 'em..whew!

  • I really enjoyed this movie and I am from the George Reeves group. This scene could have never been done in the days with Christopher Reeves because CGI was not at this level or did not even exist. I still do not care for how they make Superman into a god though, but that is Hollywood.

  • Best scene of the movie!

  • Would you just LOOK at me go!! I rip diner doors off all the time, it's so embaressing! XD

  • thsi was my favorite scene of the movie

  • This scene shows something almost overlooked: Superman's mastery over his incredible mastery of his strength. He lifts a boat weighing hundreds of tons clear out of the water, tears a door off its hinges like we would a flap on a cardboard box, and still manages to grab something extremly fragile from his perspetive without breaking it: a human arm. This scene shows all the above perfectly.

  • @japanimefan02 how would he have broken richards arm? there is no force when they both grabbed arms. have i missed something?

  • @cbachinger There wasn't a lot of force present when he lifted the boat, either. If Superman wasn't super strong and durable, he'd have sooner torn his arms off than lift the boat. However, he was super strong and durable, thus ABLE to generate the force needed.

Knowing his own strength has to be Superman's greatest power.

  • @japanimefan02 Not just his mastery of strength, but flight has well. lol.

  • @japanimefan02

agreed. but even though this scene passively shows Superman's power, it does not matter. Superman's power is not something that need analysis and appreciation. He is Superman. It needs to be raw power.

I don't wanna say, "Oh look at how much control he has over his powers."

I want to say, "Holy shit!!! He just punched the ground so hard it created a crater!!"

Now I know he falls down and creates one, but its not that same as Superman unleashing his power consciously, is it??

  • best scene was superman sun healiing with his fist closed

  • Superman Returns put the Frachise back where it should be. Greatest movie of 2006. I loved it. Singer and Routh are amazing.

  • Best scene in the movie!

  • @tommylaks agreed. Really bad superman movie though

  • i love this scene

  • Who gives a fuck, I'm enjoying this man.

  • I thought the movie was crap but I loved this scene, thanks for posting.

  • i think he was merely showing off to richard

  • I love this scene! The music, the emotion and the imagery!

  • best scene ever in the history of superman movies

  • one of the greatest scenes in superhero movie genre.

  • i think this scene even tho the movie wasnt that good is brilliant superman forever.
