  • Sad, most people think facts are fantasy because they cant face reality. And they are stupid enough to search youtube or google for 1234yf.

  • R-12 had a lower head pressure than r134a and overall did a better job of cooling a car. R-134a does not work well when sitting idle on a hot summer day like R-12. CO2 will have an even higher head pressure and as other have said will cost more to build and maintain. Global warming is a hoax and the limited use of R-134a in automotive will not make much a difference on a global level. Now CFC were used in more than just car A/C and a ban was on it made more sense.

  • I don't think that this test is really all that accurate. I know they were testing to see what happens when the car has an accident but a car will never reach 600c just driving around and anyone with half a brain would shut their car off long before that ever happened. This test seems a little off but oh well. I would much rather see us use CO2 instead. It was looked at in the 90's and I am sure the technology has improved enough to use it properly now.

  • It's all about patent, as soon as a patent expires, dupont et al lobby for their newly patented replacement and the banning of their old one (so that they have no competition. It's the way it's been with most things from the banning of hemp when they invented nylon rope, to the banning of CFCs in aerosols.

It's all about the money. Wake up and smell the pretzels.

  • I agree with Markbeiser - totally biased propaganda.

    1234yf in NOT a drop-in replacement for r134a.

It will only be used on NEW cars, and requires stronger, uprated systems with automatic leak detectors.

Why run this 'test' at high engine speed on a stationary car? and for how long to reach 600c? Why is the engine cooling fan not operating as it would normally in that situation?

Finally, CO2 systems are expensive, which makes MORE PROFIT for car makers.

Nothing to do with cost saving at all.

  • Early theatres in the United States used

    C02 compressors which had dangerously

high pressures and were not very

    efficient. They were usually replaced

    within 10 years.

  • This video is grossly misleading propaganda.

If governments manage to force CO2 refrigerant systems on automotive manufacturers, get ready for the up front cost of having AC to go up 300% or more over current systems.

In addition, the systems will require more frequent and costly repair than current systems due to the vastly higher pressures involved.
