These lists are funny. The compilers are sentimentalists, like everyone else. "Lincoln freed the slaves, Washington won the revolution, FDR reversed the depression." The same old memes, no fresh analysis. Not surprising; there's nothing to analyze. They're all the same, having played the same role: maintainer of the class system.

Ignoring them in that role, focusing on their ideas, the only one worth reading is Jefferson. He was quite forward thinking, although he didn't act on those ideas.
